Terrible. Taylor has lost his voice entirely, and it just sounds horrible.

They have a shitload of talent, and they're wasting it all just to appeal to their core fanbase of 10-14 year olds. If they dropped the masks, Taylor, the DJ and Sampler (Which should just be one person anyway) They'd have the makings of an amazing metal band. The three drummers is an interesting concept, but they hardly ever use them in thier songs.

Their only good album was MFKR.

MFKR and their self-titled were both amazing. I liked the direction Taylor was originally taking the band...and then they just kind of petered off once that...other...album came out. I've heard rumor that if this next album doesn't do well, that they're going they're separate ways.

Some of the new stuff sounded decent on stage. A lot better than the craptacular Iowa , but I don't know how well the album will do.

You mean, sell out.

Iowa is terrible, the new album is terrible. Sucks, I was looking foward to another Slipknot album. Now that I have it, well, you get the idea.

First of all, MKFR isn't realllly a slipknot album, i mean it is, but it's not the same slipknot...different lead singer, less band members...not really the nontet we see today.
-Corey lost his voice...where the hell did the mega screaming go...why does it just sound like another shitty hardcore band now.
-Duality (they're single) sounds like something Stone Sour would do...theres a shade of corey...but come on it's not slipknot.

-All of you trashing Iowa are over looking some of the really cool shit that was done on that album.
-Skin Ticket is some of the most disturbing, straight jacket material i've heard from a metal band in a while, well yeah...thats pretty much the high point...iowa did suck...my bad.

bottom line...this album IS going to blow...maybe worth a download then deletion...Kinda like the past 3 Limp Bizkit albums.

They won't be doing anything after this album. I read on the PRP a while ago that the band will be going their own ways after this record. Corey said he doesn't want to see Slipknot become what became of GWAR after their motif got old.

They did re-spark that genre "look" in music again that is for sure. Iowa had a few good songs. They lacked however, Slipknot's staple, their "groove". Without that, they are nothing.

Spit it out!

This is Slipknots last album...thats because Taylor has Stonesour to fall back on...he said that on Much Loud

He was talking about how Slipknot isn't a band that will be around for a long time but Stonesour will be! I don't know how some of Stonesour's songs sound like Slipknot

There are conflicting reports regarding this being their last album or not.

Some members have been saying it won't be, some have said it will be.

Apparantly Taylor has been saying it won't be their last at recent shows.

I could handle this being Slipknots last album. I don't think anyone would shed a tear, well maybe those weirdos that make up their maggot corps. I kept hearing a bunch of dumbass kids yell out, "I'm one of your maggots corey.....command me" at the show last Fri. The youth of america *shaking head....sigh*

I'd be content hearing another Stonesour album and another Murderdolls album I could blast on my way to work, wouldn't hurt either

ALL of the original MFKR songs are superior to the remakes. It's the only time that they had inspired lyrics that weren't childish and immature.

I like all the new songs I've heard, and having taken into account the quality of the criticism they've been getting, I feel no need to justify my opinion other than to say Mr. Taylor's vocals sound, to me, more reminiscent of the s/t album.

MFKR really wasn't that great by any stretch of the imagination. Tons of experimentation does not equal quality, but I guess that's where the major division lies and we'll all have to agree to disagree.

People who call Disturd and Slipknot hardcore are the first to be shot by me. Those fucks are Nu Metal.

A hardcore band is often more underground (not publicly known) than mainstream music. The music is much "purer" and more real than mainstream shit. The artists actually have a passion for what they do. Their music is their life, not their job. Most members of hardcore bands do it as a side pursuit, as they all have real jobs by day. One of my fave bands Burnt by the Sun, although actually grindcore, has a WAN engineer for a drummer. The sad thing is most of the bands don't last that long. The somewhat upside to this is that they will put out a few excellent albums before their particular additions to the hardcore scene get old.

Examples are:

Every Time I Die
All Else Failed
Eighteen Visions (older stuff is best)
Evergreen Terrace
in reverent fear
Poison the Well

Death Metal: Deicide

Heavy Metal: Slayer

Nu-Metal: Slipknot

Industrial: Skinny Puppy

I saw the new Slipknot live show, I don't like Slipknot's actual music but i like their show just because it's something loud to move around to (plus, the other bands on the bill kicked ass... Chimaira, Sworn Enemy, and Fear Factory). Anyway, the live show is still the same. Overblown, exaggerated, whatever. But it does what it's there to do, get people kicking the shit out of each other in the pit. Works for me.

I think it's interesting that once a band goes from being pretty much kept off radio and TV to having one song on the radio, everyobody turns against them, calls them 'mainstream', because that's what I'm getting out of this thread. In my opinion, Slipknot is Slipknot, and I like them regardless. But to each their own.

Until we meet again. . .

I agree that corey's voice sucks in the new songs. His voice sounds like stone sour voice, not slipknot IMO.

MurderDolls has only have one good song and that is Dead In Hollywood.
