When my uncle died, they had a CD playing at his memorial service. It wasn't songs about death or dying, but just songs that he loved. He was the world's biggest Fats Domino fan, and there were also a lot of songs by Bo Diddley and the like. Songs that made you think of him alive, not dead.

Sleep by Eric Whitacre is good.
Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven might be good too. They played it at my grandma's wedding, and it had a profound effect on me.

Swear to God at the funeral for one my dad's friend's mom they played Grandma Got Ran Over By A Reindeer as people walked in.

A friend of mine and I discussed this at one point. He wants one of his to be Cherub Rock by The Smashing Pumpkins. I want Life By the Drop by Stevie Ray Vaughan - for this line:
