The Glory Of Love
Personally, I like the Doo Wop version sung by The Five Keys. Billy Hill wrote it in 1936 and it was first recorded by Benny Goodman. Lyrics

Older jazz love songs are wonderfully romantic. I love jazz of course, but I still don't feel I have a bias making that claim容ven if jazz isn't your or your somebody's "thing", just try learning the words to one and singing it to them ... and watch them melt. (I know it's worked on me, anyway.)

I know it's hokey but:
Total Eclipse of the Heart: Bonnie Tyler I always thought that Something by the Beatles was very romantic, although I don't really like it as much as "Girl" and "I've Just seen a Face" But this one is so moving, it has soul: 'Someday We'll be Together' by the Supremes. Someday we値l be together Say, say, say it again Someday we値l be together Oh, yeah, oh yeah You池e far away From me my love And just as sure my, my baby As there are stars above I wanna say, I wanna say, I wanna say Someday we値l be together Yes we will, yes we will Say, someday (some sweet day) we値l be together I know, I know, I know, I know My love is yours, baby Oh, right from the stars You, you, you posses my soul now honey And I know, I know you own my heart And I wanna say: Someday we値l be together Some sweet day we値l be together Yes we will, yes we will Someday (tell everybody) we値l be together Yes we will, yes we will Long time ago My, my sweet thing I made a big mistake, honey I said, I said goodbye Oh, oh baby Ever, ever, ever since that day Now, now all I wanna do is cry, cry Hey, hey, hey I long for you every night Just to kiss your sweet, sweet lips Hold you ever, ever so tight And I wanna say Someday we値l be together Yes we will, yes we will |

"Always with me, Always with you"
---- Joe Satrianai Surfing with the Alien It is all guitar, but the melodies are very beautiful and can inspire a romantic situation.

Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers
Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis Always by Bon Jovi When a Man Loves a Woman by Percy Sledge. When You Say Nothing At All by Allison Krauss. I prefer her version to Keith Whitley's. I guess I don't put much stock in most current love songs.

Merle Haggard, "I kissed my sweetie with my fist"
....seriously. Edit: Okay it might've been annoying of me to make a joke suggestion rather than also listing a real song. Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism. I'm a HUGE fan of this song.

I'll think of more I'm sure and will add to the list.

Lots of good ones here already... Crash, Crush, Angel. I haven't heard After Her, but I'm definately interested...
Marvin Gaye's Let's get it on is another excellent song as is John Meyer's Your Body is a Wonderland. Seven more songs that haven't been mentioned... (It's just so hard to find the most romantic song.) Something in the way she moves - James Taylor Crazy Love - Van Morrison Someone like you - Van Morrison I could not ask for more - Sara Evans (Her's is the version I like best) A kiss to build a dream on - Louis Armstong La Vie en Rose - Louis Armstong Change partners - Harry Connick Jr.

I just skimmed the three pages and saw several I'd tab (a second on Allison Krauss' take on "When You Say Nothing At All," Medusa).
Here's two I didn't see: I Want To Be In Love by Melissa Etheridge (gets off to a rocky start with a clumsy couplet, but recovers nicely). I'd Die Without You by P.M Dawn (Why, oh why, can't soul music be this good these days? Motown used to churn these great tunes out) |
