Vid clip of Nickelback pelted with rocks and water bottles

I was reminded of this vid clip after looking at THIS THREAD

This is from a festival in Portugal in late 2002 where Nickelback was forced to stop playing while partway through their 2nd song of their set because water bottles and rocks were thrown at them on stage.

http://myweb.nmu.edu/~klausche/nickelback.mpg

While I'm not a fan (although I have to admit that they seem to have the generic rockstar poses nailed down while playing), that's pretty shitty to do that to a band. As far as I can tell, no one got hurt. It looks like the lead singer takes a rock to the back of the head, but it doesn't look like it hardly phases him, so I guess it was something else.

That shit pisses me off.

I was at a Mighty Mighty Bosstones show (indoors) where people kept hucking things at the stage, and they were the headliners! Between songs, Dickey said "If you see someone next to you about to throw something at the stage, pound him in the face for me, OK?"

It is much worse indoors; with the bright lights in your face, you have no chance of seeing the projectiles coming at you. I'd walk off the stage, no question.

As bad as I think Nickelback is, that is a very shitty thing to do to them.

heh...."you guys wanna hear some rock and roll..."

that shit made me laugh

I've been to a concert where a band was booed off stage. If the crowd doesn't like you...there's not much you can do about it. You can try to "pick a fight" with thousands of people a la Fred Durst .

That's why i try to avoid shows. There is an inverse relationship between a crowd's functional intelligence level and the number of people it contains.

Concerts suck for that reason. I wanna see Fantomas this Saturday, but I'm probably not going due to the fact that people there are idiots.

I wanna watch a show, not be bludgeoned to death once the music starts (the place they're playing at has no seats)

I would never skip a show because of what I thought some fool was going to do there. I've seen people carried out of shows unconscious because they threw something at the band, and a fan who saw it, just absolutely pummled them. It doesn't matter what band it is, or who it is, it's just disrespectful of your fellow human. People in Beirut and Iraq throw rocks n shit at eachother, it's a very cave mannish action.

And people think having chicken wire in front of the stage at a beer joint is some hillbilly thing.

Edit: Mostly because if a hillbilly gets hit with an errant beer bottle, the thrower will more than likely wind up eating it.

even though I'm not a big fan of Nickelback, I have to say that the entire audience was definitely OWNED in that instance. that was the worst beat-down by a band I have ever seen. hell, that's what I would do too. just leave.

Unless that was the only band playing and that entire crowd paid good money to only see them, no was way that any kind of ownage on the part of nickelback. I'm sure that crowd was thinking, "bout F'n time!" even though they'd only been on for 2 songs.

I've been to about 30 concerts seen two bands get booed off or bottles...etc thrown at them.

Simple Plan and Steel Train. Both bands were totally out of place in the concert that they were in as Simple Plan belongs with Britney Spears, not on warped tour and Steel train a soft rock band was playing with hardcore acts. Neither deserved it, but they should know better than to play these shows.

My view is that regardless, no band ever deserves this kind of treatment.

well I'm assuming they were the only ones there. the possibility did enter my mind that they may be "one of the many" but man, it just isn't as funny.

they should have been booed off the stage, hell i would have paid money to be a part of that...but having them walk off the stage after being pelted with shit, that just sucks.

for one, they got the best of the crowd because of that. being booed off and deciding to leave because of a few fans is completely different.

second, i really dont think any band should have shit pelted at them, no matter how unoriginal and main stream they are.

i do have a feeling though that this crowd was the first to witness that MP3 floating around this forum of the couple of songs that sound completely the same. i'd be pretty fucking pissed off from that.

Anyone have a clip of Limp Bizkit getting things chucked at them or booed off the stage?

That I'd like to see

I read some interview when Limp Bizkit opened for Faith No More (or were part of the tour they were on), but Fred Durst got all pissed at the crowd and started yelling, "Fuck you, fags. I'll kick all your asses." and apparently the crowd started throwing all kinds of junk up at 'em.

I worked in the barricade for a ton of shows, and never saw anything get that out of hand. Maybe it's just because Nickelback sucks.

I've only thrown stuff at one band. Anyone remember the 'New Radicals' and their one hit wonder song 'Don't Let Go' (You've got the Music in You). Well the kid was a freak, he opened for less than jake, didn't play any instruments, just sang, and played that stupid song twice. He also asked for the lights to be turned down because he was 'tweaking'. I got him with a coke bottle to the chest, and couldn't have been happier.

few years ago at a big radio station concert festival type show, cake (the band) was thrown in with a bunch of punkish rock bands... the crowd was all riled up after blink 182 played, then cake went on and people started chucking shit like they had been at blink. the lead guy gets up to the mic and says "if anyone else throws anything, we're done." needless to say, a fullisade of bottles and shoes went flying up and they all walked. fortunately, sugar ray (back when they were still silly smart-asses and not sappy crooners) picked up the slack, started their set early, and played an extra-long set. mark mcgrath even caught some of the shit flying at him and threw it back.

it's all about the attitude of the musician.

I also don't blame Cake. That's poor casting on the radio station's part.

I remember during a Summer Sanitarium tour stop in Irving,TX, everyone started ripping off the seat covers and throwing them in the air. There must have been thousands of blue covers flying all over the place. It was great, but they hurt if they hit you in the head.

At 104 Fest, Evanescence was booed off the stage for Trapt, and I'm willing to bet Evanescence has a bigger following than Nickelback does. I guess it all depends on the style of music the crowd came to see.
