And they wonder why I say that all of Nickelback's music sounds the same
http://www.ultimatemetal.com/~bumble...%20Someday.mp3
"How You Remind Me" and "Someday" played at the same time, one through left speaker, one through right. Homogenous music at its best. I would also like to speculate that, with a large enough surround sound system, it is entirely plausible that this can be done with the entire Sugar Ray album "14:59" |
I heard this at another site, I love it.
|
hahaha that's amazing.
Goes to show how unoriginal a lot of newer music is :\ |
Yep not much different - and still crap !
|
Excellent, that's a keeper!
|
omg, lol. I've been a Nickelback fan in the past, but this is just hilarious. Awsome find, lol.
|
Wow...I thought they sounded similar, but I didn't realize they were THAT similar.
*still likes both songs, though :p * |
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
*snort* ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I love it. I downloaded that and will play that for some friends who think they know music. /off to listen to Queen (Now that's a diverse band!!) |
Wow, that is a complete eye opener. I always thought they were pretty bland and formulatic, but this link takes that theory and turns it into fact!
|
I'm laughing out loud.
|
I don't get it. Other than being the same length and same band, it just sounds like two different songs in each channel playing simultaniously. They are similar, but most of todays groups songs are interchangeable. Look at mega-rockers ac-dc. Thay must have 50 songs you could do that with if you had enough channels.
|
crewsor, the song structures are identical and the chord progressions match up (i suspect that one song was pitch-shifted so the keys are identical, but the intervals used are the same).
|
I agree with your topic....as I listened through their newest CD..it was hard to tell when one song ended and another began. It's OK stuff, but seriously they have to change it up. I dont need 30 versions of How You Remind Me.
|
I also saw this a while back on another site. I couldn't believe it when I heard it. Terrible. Completely terrible. Back when it first came out there was a big discussion about how it was "doctored" but you can play the damn mp3s and it matches up. No doctoring involved :) Genericore baby.
|
Heh that's pretty funny. But I suppose that's their "style", so their fans should like all of the cookie cutter songs.
|
collective soul uses the same drum and guitar lines but at different speeds on a couple of songs....the nickelback thing is funny tho
|
HOLY CRAP! lmao.. This is damned funny!
|
Alot of corporate rock bands do the exact same thing. They simply try to re-create their hit song over and over again until it stops selling. And from a their POV, it makes perfect sense.
To the discerning listener, however, its pretty shitty. |
how funny, yet how sad. funny in that they can get away with it, and nobody really cares. sad in that these guys make a shit load of money making the same music....and sad that many, many bands do this.
today's music SUCKS ASS.....ALL OF IT.....i cant listen to the radio without getting bored out of my mind.......its all the same. |
Just heard that yesterday. Hilarious! Knew I didn't like them. Forcefed corporate radio crap

i also heard this at another site, hahahahahahaha
|
Oh man, this is beauty hahahaha!
|
God, that's so weird. Yeah, I saved it too - I'll play it for pretty much everyone I can find :)
Too cool. |

What!! Collective Soul rocks! There shit is 10x better than Nickelback's generic rock pop songs. To compare them to Nickelback is completely terrible! Collective Soul is one of my favorite bands... |
that was awesome.
that's going into my playlist |

I'd like to rip a few locksof hair of that nice man's face, and staple them back on.
|
WOW!! I always had this feeling they were the same song. Although it sounds to me like the pitch on "Someday" has been raised a little...don't matter, it's still the same damn crap song. :)
|
Well small modifications had to be made to get them to line up *perfectly*
|
holy crap, that is eerie. the first time i heard the someday song, i thought they were playing how you remind me again. interestingly enough, i find this version much more tolerable than either of the two other songs. formulaic to a T
|
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that sure says a lot about the music industry today. |
Hmmmmm, genera-rock keeping the volume steady at medium and the lyrics at non-offensive.
Edit: For run I loaded the mp3 into a wav editor that shows peaks and valleys and I swear the two songs just differ by lyrics. |
Funny find, but i still like nickleback. I liked em before they were real popular.
|
The radio stations around here play them WAY too much, because they're semi-local.
Ugh. That clip was really uncanny though. |

i'd LOVE to send a radio station this MP3, and have them just listen to it. they wouldnt have to play it on the radio, but i'd like them to just see what kind of bland, non original shit they support. but if they were to play it (which i doubt they would) i would love to hear the calls they'd get from all sorts of people from fans of the band to those who purely hate them. |
Live in Vancouver, sent this to my sister and she said they played this yesterday morning on the radio ;) She also said they sped up Someday to get it to fit, so there has been some doctoring.

I caught a friend of mine on a message board once saying:
"I need new music.. I'm getting bored of everything. Listened to Nickelback, and other bands.." and I asked him, "...you listened to Nickelback..?" He'll never live that down. Now whenever I see him, I ask him, "How's the new Nickelback?" |
Reminds me of that quote on Comedy Central from one of thiose comedians on that Colin Quinn show...
"Music does really make you violent. When I listen to Nickelback, it makes me want to kill Nickelback." |
Whoa. That's some freaky stuff, no matter if it's doctored or not. The way they line up is what really impresses me. You'd think that a band that has at least some talent would find an original bridge for one song or something... but no, not Nickelback. I'm going to play this next time I'm on the air.
