you got it way wrong the song was written by jason m. thirsk the orginal basist who killed him self, not the singer the singer is jim and the person who took over on the bass is not his brother his name is randy bradbury who played in a band called all day and also was jasons bass teacher

And the band itself is pretty much dead...some may dispute about whether or not the song is about death, and of course the lyrics all apply to addiction and heroin itself, but he is saying he has made the decision to nullify his life, it seems like the song is about trying to quit before it takes you over the edge into death.
