The Beastie Boys Anthology: Sounds of Science

I just got this collection. It is a 2 disc collection of the Beastie Boys best songs. It is a great set of music, and it'll last me a while. If your a Beastie Boyys fan, you need this album.

Is there anything new? I've got so much of their stuff already, that unless there is stuff I don't have, I wouldn't buy it.

This set has been out for a few years now. It has the song "Alive" on it which came out in this collection. It's a pretty damn good buy. In addition to some of the best Beastie Boys material it has some early stuff from when they were still a punk band and even a live(and very drunk) cover of Benny and the Jets. I found it used and thought it was well worth it.

Thanks for the info. I guess I missed this one, I'll have to look for it! But, I've got stuff from when they first started out, bootlegs at CVGV's, and a few imports that contain covers and stuff not found on any cd/album/tape.

Ya this collection is awsome. It was the soundtrack to one great night back in early january 2000 for me. I flew home from a Christmas/New Years holiday in the Caribbean and a few of my buddies picked me up at the airport. On the ride home I was handed a small serving of magic fungus which we all consumed on the ride to my place. We had great time listning to that cd amongst other entertainment. Didn't sleep until the next morning until after I caught my plane back to school for the semester.

Anyway, the collection is great, I highly recommend it. Here's a link to a review with the track list: http://www.canoe.ca/JamAlbumsB/beast...ofscience.html

Yeah, I got the album when it first came out, every so often I give it a little spin.

IMO the booklet that tells things about every song is easily worth it by itself.

No, the collection came out in 1999. That political song, "world gone mad" i think it's called, can be downloaded off of their website.

When the anthology first came out, you could download a "custom" version of it from them. They had pretty much all of their back catalogue available (except Rock Hard because of the AC/DC sample), and you could pick and choose which ones you wanted. Innovative for the time.
