So what's your favourite Music Video?
Title says it all. Just mention one. Probably one other honourable mention.
|
I can't narrow down my alltime favorite vid, but currently, I still really like Fell In Love With A Girl from The White Stripes, since it's all done in Legoes.
|
That jammy-jam Jamiroquai one where he's sliding on the floor and all the furniture's moving around, wasn't that Virtual Insanity? That effect was really neat.
|
Beastie Boys - Sabotage
|
Just a Gigalo - David Lee Roth.
|
Anything by The White Stripes
|
Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up
(For obvious reasons) :P |
Come to daddy - Aphex Twin.
Just blew me away. Before or since i have never seen anything as disturbing/angsty/mean/unique. Check out the lense flares @ the start. The way the picture quality reacts to the sounds - seems to be effected by the power of the music in places. The whole drum/stick/railing thing. Chris cunningham didnt get enough recognition for his work on that. |

Very, very simple:
Rabbit In Your Headlights by UNKLE, DJ Shadow and some guy from Radiohead |
Sing by Travis. I like the food fight at the end :D
|
*Today - Smashing Pumpkins
*Parabol/Parabola - Tool *Ava Adore - The Smashing Pumpkins *1979 - The Smashing Pumpkins *...practically anything from The Smashing Pumpkins :D |
Definately Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy by Chris Cunningham. I think that the greatness of this video has been over-shadowed by Windowlicker. Don't get me wrong, windowlicker is a fine piece of work, but I think that Come to Daddy is just plain incredible.
-C.S. Flim *edit* I also love just by radiohead. I laughed my ass off the first time I saw that...not everyone's reaction is that however! |
Dave Matthews Band - Crash
THE most beautiful music video of all time. So far three girls have cried when i showed it to them... |
You guys should check out the video for Blue Man Group and Dave Matthews's song called "Sing Along". It's pretty cool, and you can find it on KaZaA. I've become a Blue Man Group fan basically over the weekend, and am looking forward to their new CD that's coming out tomorrow.
|
Tool- prison sex
|
Molotov - Rastamandita ;)
its a mexican group, I dont think many of you know know about them, but the uncensored version of this video will leave you  Its my favourite because of the girls in the video. But I also like almost every Red Hot Chilli Pepper video. Their videos rock!! |
I still love Weapon of Choice by Fatboy Slim
Gotta love Christopher Walken flying and dancing...I still laugh hysterically when I see that one. |
I'd also have to go with Go With The Flow by Queens of the Stone Age.
The sky, the sperm, the girl squrting oil on her chest! |
I had to go watch the Go With The Flow video again to find this sperm that everyone talks about, hehe.
|
any video by TOOL...they freak me out ...in a good way :D
|
Closer by Nine Inch Nails. If only it could've been a little bit disturbing...
|
Lost Cause - Beck Pure eye candy
Of course White Stripes videos are cool as well. |
Another vote for Fell In Love With A Girl by the White Stripes.
I notice another little detail in it each time I watch it. |

Nine Inch Nails - The Perfect Drug
|
All time favourite is 'Star Guitar' by The Chemical Brothers.
Current favourite is the one about milkshake by Kelis. |
Quote:
another one that comes to mind is Fastlove by George Michael. |
You can't forget Aha - Take On Me!!!!
I like the video for Hey Ya too. |
Quote:
Honorable mention: Tom Petty - Don't Come Around Here No More |
Korn - Freak on a Leash
Staind - For You |
Take On Me is still my favorite video...runners up are Boys of Summer (Don Henley) and Wicked Game (Chris Isaak)
|
There are so many great ones out there.
All Is Full of Love by Bjork Only You by Potrishead B Line by Lamb Man That You Fear by Marilyn Manson, among many others Just by Radiohead My Culture by 1 Giant Leap (feat. Robbie Williams) Coffee & TV by Blur, "The Universal" is another good one by them. Rabbit In Your Headlights - UNKLE Come to daddy - Aphex Twin Weapon of Choice – Fatboy Slim Dangerous - Busta Rhymes |
A close call between Bowie's Hearts Filthy Lesson, but I think I'll go with NIN and "Closer" instead. The uncut version of course.
|
Radiohead - Paranoid Android
|
Do The Evolution and 1979. *nods*
I have a soft spot for "Fat" by Weird Al. Never fails to crack me up. "What it is with you, man, are you on some kind of diet? Is that what they're teaching you in that little sissy school of yours?" |
Rammstein - Du Hast.
Im surprised no one has mentioned them. All of their videos are great. I also agree with what a few others have said, anything from Tool and Aphex Twin is fantastic. |

One by Metallica is my favorite all time, I don't watch many videos anymore since MuchMusic turned to crap, the Hey Ya one is pretty damn good though.
Edit: OOH OOH sister's friend showed me a new animated George Michael's one, hold on while I find it... SHOOT THE DOG by George Michael, I was on the ground laughing so hard I was crying, is a great great video. |
Ah, come on everyone.
Epic by Faith No More Honorable mention: Opposites Attract by Paula Abdul I probably would have mentioned Soundgarden, Tool, NIN, Bjork, and Massive Attack if no one else had... |
OK, best video of all time is Tom Petty - Don't Come Around Here No More. Nothing else even comes close.
After that, though, there are a TON of excellent videos, so I am hard pressed to pick just one more. That said, after much thought, my honorable mention goes to Weird Al - All About the Pentiums. Basically everything by Weird Al, Tool, They Might Be Giants, Talking Heads, Tom Petty, and Peter Gabriel is top tier. Props to willbjammin for mentioning Paula Abdul. The music can be pretty vapid, but the choreography is incredible. |
I can't believe no one has mentioned Michael Jacksons "Thriller"
I was meanting to download that at Halloween and freak my kids out... and of course by looking at my sig its obvious that I like everything from Radiohead... |
Aphex Twin - Monkey Drummer.
then Donkey Rhubarb. Something about big furry animal suits with Richard D James messed up face just cracks me up Oh, and definitely Prodigy's - Smack my bitch up. |
Can't Stop - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Californication - Red Hot Chili Peppers |
for a new video, I like 'Megalomaniac' by Incubus.
|
I haven't seen many music videos, but "Breaking the Law" by Judas Priest always makes me laugh.
|
I like Tool-"Sober". That video is really weird and dark, and I don't know what the hell is going on, but I always stopped what I was doing when I was younger to watch it. Too bad they don't show it on TV anymore, I miss that little clay man.

Johnny Cash - "Hurt"
|
Radiohead.. the one where that guy is lying on the ground and there are ppl all around him asking what's wrong. i forgot the name.. that was a really cool vid..
|
I'm not sure what the song's name is but I believe the group is Jurassic 5. Even if you don't like rap (i don't really) I highly suggest you see this video.

Tool - Sober
|
hell yeah prodigy's smack my bitch up, best one ever
|
afi's the leaving song part II is nice, simple premise but excecuted insanely well.
|
There are sooooooo many.
The first ones that came to my mind instantly without thinking: Basement Jaxx: Where's your head at (Creepy & funny) Madonna: Frozen (also Vogue, Human nature & many other good ones, her dancing style has been so influential it's kinda impossible to neglect) Björk: Human behaviour (also All is full of love, which cd version is way crappier than video edit of that song) Fatboy Slim: Weapon of Choice (Yeah, I feel like dancing around and hoppig to tables when I see it) No Doubt: Ex-Girlfriend (Good story, pretty video, has sort of different aspect to give so you can see the lyrics a bit differently so it's not so easy to sink into your own life with em) Garbage: Stupid girl (Works for me when I am in the right mental state) Prodigy- Smack my bitch up (also: Firestarter) Mirwais - Discoscience I prefer Windowlicker of Aphex Twins videos. Sometimes I get mentally hooked on some videos with great dance numbers and wana see em again and again to see how it's done. :) I like Radiohead and Massive attack as movies, but can't say the music videos would have blown me away. Rammstein's videos are nice, but none of the videos is really spectacular. Like with Radiohead, the music is better than the videos. |
I'm glad that someone mentioned Micheal Jackson's Thriller. That was an awesome production.
some close runners up: Weapon of Choice : Fatboy Slim Fuck her Gently: Tenacious D |
Shake Your Blood : Probot
It's a badass song, and the video is filled with some hot suicidegirls. |
Sabotage- Beastie Boys
Prison Sex -Tool Smack My Bitch Up -Prodigy |
Got my mind set on you- George Harrison
|
Tool - Parabol(a)
Prodigy - Smack my bitch up |
Prodigy-smack my bitch up
Anything by BJORK |
Forgive me if I already posted this, I went through all three pages to see if I did, didn't find it, but I swear I remember posting it! Anyways....
It has to be "Is this Love" Whitesnake, I just love the provocative way Tawny Kitaen dances around the bed. |
Oh yeah, while I'm on this provocative kick, I also liked Billy Idol's "Cradle of Love" video.
|
Currently my favourite video is "Everlong" by the Foo Fighters.
For all you music video fans, I highly recommend going out right now and buying "The Work Of Michel Gondry" on DVD. I love just about any video directed by him, and many of them have been mentioned in this thread already. "The Work Of Spike Jonze" and "The Work Of Chris Cunningham" are also quite good, but if you are just going to by one of the three, get the Michel Gondry one. He did many of Bjork's videos (all the best ones, in my opinion), and he has very original ideas. |
Just Like Heaven - The Cure
Enjoy The Silence - Depeche Mode Sabotage - Beastie Boys Hot For Teacher - Van Halen |
Any Tool video, hands down.
Nine Inch Nails - Pinion, Happiness in Slavery, and Closer (there are more, but those 3 stick out in my head the most) |
I can't help watching intently any time I see Whitesnake's In the Still of the Night....Tawney....MMmmmmmmm......
|
Drive by Incubus is pretty good.
Do The Evolution by Pearl Jam was a crazy video. Also, one that I enjoyed but would by no means call great but merely good would be Awake by Godsmack. |
