kazaa lite?
Anybody else having problems using kazaa lately? It seems like only one in twenty files i click on actually starts to download, if that. Should I change some preferences or use a filter or something? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Happens constantly. The files show up when I search, but are never there when I try to download- "more sources" pops up. It seems that noone else has problems grabbing files from me tho.

Just to let you know, KaZaA Lite doesn't exist anymore. KaZaA (Sharman Networks) had them shutdown for copyright infringement (I think). KaZaA Lite SHOULD still work if it is installed on your system.

I just got a new computer and tried installing v. 2.0 - I can hardly ever get the Search & Traffic tabs to turn on - and the one time I finally did, it said there were 30 users online, instead of the usual 2 million. For the hell of it, I searched for The Beatles - just got one song - Hey Jude.
On the bright side, it downloaded at 150 kbs. Most of the web sites that Google finds for k-lite say to use eMule now - anyone have any experience with that?

eMule's good, but in a different way. Downloading in eMule is very slow (so you can't just expect to dl whatever you want in 10min, you have to leave your computer on overnight). And unlike Kazaa, eMule shares the files that you are currently downloading. eMule (generally) has a different type of files than those on Kazaa: fewer fakes, fewer mp3s (b/c it has a lot of entire albums in rar form), better quality.
If you just want something similar to Kazaa, get Blubster. It's only mp3s (maybe some other formats too). There's a clean version of it somewhere online. btw Kazaa Lite still exists. The people that created it are still developing it. They're working on a lite version of the latest Kazaa. Last I heard, it was still beta. Last edited by bob32; 01-03-2004 at 11:52 AM.. |

I have used eMule and eDonkey before and while they are pretty cool they are very slow in my opinion...
Although I now mainly use Bittorrent

K++ is still working fine, provided you HAVE it.
I personally have firewall problems (so I can't send files to people), but if you want a copy you should just ask someone with it to send you the installer. It isn't up on the internet anymore though.

I dislike bittorrent, as most the music I listen to is not on mtv, and it is hard to find shit that is not as mainstream. That soulseek, I just installed that but had to wait like an hour for my dl to start cause I was queued. I hate being queued.

I started using Sharezaa, and man is that ever slow! Not only does it take forever to get anything, but it sucks up my bandwidth like mad, much worse than Kazaa ever did. I am going to give bit torrent a try, and if that doesn't work, I'm going to get regular Kazaa and find the anti-spywear patches.
