Songs you can't understand why you like

We all have them, favorite songs from bands that you normally wouldn't listen to, but for some reason you can't get enough of a particular song. For me it is Dishwalla's 'Counting Blue Cars'. I could listen to that all day, yet they are not the type of band I gravitate to.

What's yours?

I think (Hit Me) Baby One More Time is one heck of a song, but, other than as a sex toy, I have no use for Brittney Spears or girlie Pop in general.

There are quite a few I can't understand why I like including...
The ENTIRE cd "Let Go" by Avril Lavigne
there are a couple Spice Girl songs
a couple Mandy Moore songs
some Jessica Simpson
some Britney Spears...

I can't explain it. I guess they're popular for a reason, but I'm not really into "pop" music, but I like those songs... weird

Yeah, agreed about Liz Phair. Also, "Milkshake" by Kelis is a song I'll never know why I sing along with.

Everything by Maroon 5, they're a freaking boy band for christ sake.

GoldFrapp - Train. It's really freaking catchy, and the video's more than slightly pornographic.

yeah, i really dig maroon 5's radio song.. "harder to breathe" or whatever. i saw them live and didn't like them toooo well. thought he sounded too much like jamiroquai.

i'd have to say "ash to ash" by loudermilk though. it's a really pretty song but i'm not into their other music at all. mediocre at best.

Oh I've often asked myself this kind of question. I know that this stuff is supposed to suck, but I just like listening to it. Its like violence in a way, I know I'm not supposed to enjoy watching it, but some of it is pretty fucking cool. Some of my list goes as such:

Avril's "Let Go" cd, yes the whole thing, she just writes some catchy melodies
Two T.A.T.U songs
"I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany
A few Winger songs
Some Christina Aguilera
Shania Twain

It basically comes down to the fact that I find all of these songs really catchy and I like the melodies. And everyone always has a song or group that they like but might not admit to, its natural.

I agree. I think it's just a really fun song with a nice rythym to it. Or maybe I have bad taste in music. Also that Junior Senior song.

The Grateful Dead's "Touch of Grey"--hate the band, love the song

Lots of stuff by Poison--in theory I should loathe them, but with the eighties metal revival in full swing I've been hearing them a lot lately, and they had some great songs

"Waterfalls" by TLC

That was Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

Mine is the No Doubt cover of 'It's My Life'. I hated the original version, and I don't care much for No Doubt, but whenever that song comes on the radio, I seem to start rockin'.

The "ding" noises sound like they're from a keyboard/synthesizer. You have to check out the music video for it!

I believe it's the Righteous Brothers that sing "You've Lost That Loving Feeling."

And Big Boi's - I like the way you move gets me singing all the time.

Chevelle's singer bears some similarity to APC/Tool's singer. I think that's why I liked "The Red" (but not so much "Bring The Pain Below").

Yeah I've noticed some stylistic similarities between the Chevelle stuff I hear on the radio and some APC and/or Tool stuff.
