Surf Music
I don't find very many people in the real world that dig surf music as much as I do, so I figured I'd post here to see if there are any fans here.
For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, surf is mainly medium to fast instrumental guitar with typical rock support: drums, bass, etc. You can hear many international influences in any given song. These include Middle Eastern, Spanish, Russian, and even German influenced composition. Dick Dale is one of the central surf figures most have heard of for his contributions to the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. Other bands include Los Straitjackets, The Route 66 Killers, The Ghastly Ones, The Ventures, and The Mermen. Any how, if you do dig surf, who is your favorite band? I'm always looking for new bands to listen to. |

I really like Dick Dale, but that's about it. I haven't found anybody else who has captured the same gritty sound as he has. I'm sure some exist though. I really enjoy Link Wray, while he isn't surf per se, he is a great instrumental guitarist.

I gotta say I love what I have heard - Dick Dale, Los Mel Tones, the Ventures, but I haven't heard much.
