Personally, I think God walks the earth in the visage of Bruce Springsteen. The last time I saw him, in September, on The Rising Tour was one of the best nights of my entire life. I screamed myself hoarse and I couldn't take for days afterward. That being said, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Live In Barcelona sucked so much assssssssssssssssssssssssssssss! There was no ass left to suck! It was freaking terrible. I wanted to recapture how I felt at the last concert and I thought this DVD would do the trick. How wrong i was. Uninspired playing, mugging for the cameras, overdone sentimentality........It was just plain bad. It wasn't at all like the night I saw him. I had high hopes that Bruce was going to record and release another live album when finished up the tour in New York in October but I haven't heard anything yet.

Springsteen is amazing. I caught two of his shows from the Rising tour and was blown away each time. I havn't seen the dvd Live in Barcelona but I've got a few bootlegs of his live shows that are pretty great. No where near capturing the actual energy in the building when the man is on stage, but it's a great way to try and relive the concert and get back into the moment.
I couldn't believe the energy that he put into every song. And the range of songs that he pulled out from his various albums was amazing. Easily one of the top 5 concerts I've ever been to.

I'll be honest. I'm not a big fan of Bruce. I want to be. But I'm not. I do have a funny feeling that I'll become a fan later in life...you know how you're just not ready to hear certain music until a certain time in your life? I think Bruce is like that.
But the reason I'm posting here is because although I'm not a big fan of his music, I think he's a great guy. I think he's one of the view musicians out there with his head on straight. I love the fact that he gains so much passion out of playing live, and for that reason, always plays for hours and hours and never does the same show twice. And to see him back with his family, the E Street Band...it just feels good whether you like his music or not.
