Streaming Music Sites: The Definintive List.
If you've ever tried searching for streaming music you will feel my pain. All links seem to lead to pop-up paradise or sites trying to sell URL's.
All I want is a link and a brief description of what I/you're going to hear. Example: WeFunkRadio Donation driven site with 100's of hours of funky hip-hop, pre-recorded shows and occasional live mixes with special guest DJ's. or BBC Radio 6 Alternative music, talk, comedy from the BBC. or Chorley FM - Coming in your ears. Not a real radio staion. There has to be more out there. Please share any gems you've found. Any nationality, any genre.

My absolute favorite:
Radio Paradise Listener supported, electic, intelligent online radio. Mainly focusing on rock and folk, with touches of jazz, blues and classical thrown in. If you have a song you think that should be played on the station, you can upload it for consideration. No commercials (other than promos for the station) and run by a DJ who truly cares about the music. RP has a highly intuitive website that allows you to follow the playlist (so you never have to wonder, "hey what's that song?), gives you links where you can purchase the song, and the best part - each song has its own thread on a bulletin board where you can rate the song from 1-10 and post comments on it.

My suggestion is the on-line version of our local radio station WYCE. This seems like it may be like the suggestion for Radio Paradise, in the style of music they play and it being listener supported. I don't think their website is too interactive, but it is a great station, usually the only thing I listen too. Night time is best, IMO, they play more rock.
WYCE streaming radio *edit* just tried out Radio Paradise, I like it so far. I'm just discoving the joys of streaming radio. I'll try the other links on this thread, too. Last edited by anleja; 12-11-2003 at 09:29 PM.. |
