Favourite *Country* Songs
Skimming the thread titles, I've seen very little mention of the country music genre. Now, I don't listen to much country, but I was raised on it, and I hear a quite a bit of it just because I'm from Kentucky and in many places its the genre of choice. There are several country songs that I absolutely love, and a few artists I listen to with some degree of regularity. (Dixie Chicks, Rascal Flatts, and Faith Hill to name a few) I am NOT including Allison Krauss on this list, even though I've loved her for many many years...she's bluegrass, y'all, I don't care if she's on Country Music Television, it's bluegrass.
Anyway...I was interested in seeing if anyone else has an interest in country. Even if you can't stand the twang, many of them have great lyrics. Their music videos tend to be more enjoyable for me to watch because they really tell a story, not just flash racy images for 3 minutes. I guess I'm a fan of ballads; most of the country songs I like are slow, tender ballads. So anyway...my favourite country songs...please add if you have any. :-) *The Dance by Garth Brooks *Baby, You Can Sleep While I Drive by Trisha Yearwood (I know that this one was actually written by Melissa Ethridge) *You Don't Even Know Who I am by Patty Loveless *I'm Moving On by Rascal Flatts *Love Me by Collin Ray |
Carry On - Pat Green
Never Would've Worked Out Anyway and Me Neither - Brad Paisley There Goes and Who's Cheatin' Who - Alan Jackson The Devil Went Down to Georgia - Charlie Daniels Band And the single greatest song ever written of ANY genre... One of the bands I play in is a classic rock band (classics people can dance to,.. ie not Zeppelin, Sabbath etc,..*OFKU0 sobs*) and everytime at the end of the third set when everyone is drunk we rip on a version of Travis Tritt's ' Here's a quarter call someone who cares'. It never fails,we get the loudest reaction of the night in a positive way.
