Favorite Parody/Comedy Tunes?

This occured to me, who else really likes listening to parody/comedy tunes?

I love Wierd Al and a lot of the Dr. Demento Tunes, among them:

- Cat In the Kettle - Wierd Al
-'Cause I'm Blonde - Julie Brown
- EarAche my Eye - Cheech and Chong
- Existential Blues - Tom 'T-Bone' Stankas
- Don't Eat the Yellow Snow - Frank Zappa

But my fav composer/musician is Tom Leher.

Nothing compares to "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" or "The Element Song" or "So Long Mom, I'm off to Drop the Bomb!"

Ah! I need to dig out my Tom Leher now!

Well its not exactly a parody or comedy but weezer- pink triangle is a humorous song.

Mel Brook's dainty little tune "Springtime for Hitler"

Everyone knows Weird Al rocks. But its safe to say his two lastest albums sucked donkey. And don't even get me started on Adam Sandler. Yuck.

One of the best comedy MUSIC albums ever is "Monty Python Sings". Songs from the movies and the show, always good for a laugh. :D

Thanks for reminding me of Tom Leher too. My science teacher in 8th grade turned me onto him ;D. Lets see... all i have is his CD's, no vinyl. Theres 3 of them called:
Evening Wasted with Tom Leher (live album) GREAT
Revisited - Live - Not so great
and
That was the Year that Was - Live - Great, but not as great as Evening Wasted. :D

Most definitely Weird Als "All about the Pentiums"
Hilarious!

Okay, I'm opening myself up for a slight backlash, but the first song I thought of was an odd rap song from the 80's called "Rappin' Duke", it was a rap song by and about John Wayne....or at least a rapper pretending to be John Wayne.

Certainly not at the level of some other brilliant song parodies, or comedy records, but it made me laugh...and that's not a bad thing, is it??

Sorry meanSpleen, but I thought Adam Sandler's "What's Your Name?" cd was great. 14 songs and no spoken jokes. I think he's a lot less irritating when he's singing.

Poisoning Pigeons In The Park is good, but my all time favorite is "Tomato Vendetta" by Mason Williams. Good luck finding it if you can. A MUST for all tomato haters.

South Park Xmas. The song where Cartman sings about Swiss Colony Beef Logs. We bring that with us every Xmas and listen to it at least 3x on the ride up to the homeland.

Especially the line "everyone's a little queer, why can't she be a little straight."

Nerf Herder has some pretty funny songs, I suggest "Jenna Bush Army."

not really tunes, but great comedy released only on cd. any cricket lover would appriciate the 12th man series. funniest stuff ive ever heard. One bloke does all the voices of the characters of the channel nine's cricket commentary team.

From National Lampoon's "Lemmings" album, Chevy Chase sings a song called "Colorado" that slays people when I sing it.

Representative sample of lyrics:
"The baby didn't die until we'd burned up all our wood. Considering we ate her raw, she tasted pretty good."

I find most Bloodhound Gang songs entertaining. Zappa is good also. One of my favorites from recent times is Osama Your Mama by Ray Stevens.

Oh and maybe I missed it but I didn't see Spinal Tap mentioned yet. My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo, I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo!

I think Stephen Lynch's comedy CD is hilarious. Check that out. There's tons of his stuff on Kazaa or whatever programs you use.

Weird Al on his best day can't touch BOB RIVERS. Don't know if he's a producer, composer or what, but everysong is a deadon likeness to the original. How bout
"What if God smokes cannabis?
Hits the bong like one of us...
Drives a tie dyed micro- bus
and he subscribes to rolling stone"
to "What if God were one of us", or 'bin laden and the jets', as elton john, 'gimme 12 steps', 'marijuanaville', ...and he's responsible for about half the Christmas parodies you ever heard...

Bob Rivers is great, but c'mon you have to give Weird Al credit where credit is due! To my knowledge Bob Rivers doesn't delve into video which makes Weird Als stuff even better! I laugh my balls off every time I see "Eat it!"

Lebell 05-02-2003 08:24 AM

Hehe,

Yeah, the rubber chicken fight in "Eat It!" is great.
