OK, which Beatles?
The thread on what concerts you wish you saw spawned this question. A few answered the Beatles, ok, which Beatles would that be?
The Ed Sullivan Beatles The Shea Stadium Beatles The Rooftop Beatles All three represent three different versions of the Fab Four. If you could go back in time, which of those would you like to see? For me I think the Shea Stadium era would be my choice. Although, I think seeing the Beatles during the time they performed on the top of Apple studios perform She Loves You would be quite a treat. |

they would have played some of their more meaningful songs. not that their poppy songs arent good, but i think that the ones what are a bit more meaningful are better, if u get what i mean

Rooftop Beatles. I don't think I could have heard the Beatles beyond the deafening female screams during the other two periods. If the Beatles had done a theater tour around the time of the rooftop concert, I bet it would have been amazing. (If they hadn't killed each other halfway through.)

The more I think about it, the Rooftop Beatles of course would be much deeper in meaning than any of the other versions. But damn, I'd like to experience Beatlemania first hand. By the time they were on the rooftop at Apple, that performance was not much more than a curiosity for the people in the street below. |

The Caverns would be my first choice, the Rooftop era was definetely a changing time in rock music though.

Rooftop concert.
The songs were much more meaningful (at least to me) and it would just be awesome to see 4 of the most famous people in the world at the time standing on a rooftop playing music.

Rooftop. Still can't believe that the cops made them shut that down.
While I think that the Hamburg or Cavern shows would be cool from a historic perspective. I've heard recordings from those days, and frankly, they sound about as bad as any bar band around here. Not their best work. More a diamond in the rough at that point. |
