http://www.yetanotherdot.com/asp/80s.html
I scored 151, my girlfriend scored 145. See if you can do better.

Ah, a great quiz. I played that one over a year ago, I got a pretty high score, but I don't remember what it was. It would be cheating to play again, though.
...um, why is this in the Trampoline? Should you ask a Mod to move it to Music?

Redlemon - Seemed like as good a place for it as any. If a mod wants to move it, that's fine by me.
I don't spend a lot of time in the music forum, so I just didn't think of it.

OK, I got a 118, and after I went back and corrected two answers for correct verb tenses or pluralization, 121. I missed the R&B and rap elements.
Ah, just remembered that the last time I took this quiz... was right here. Tilted Forum Project - Music Of The 80s: Lyric Quiz. I only got a 102 back in November 2003, so I clearly gained some points due to memorization of the answers.

Why would anyone born in the 80s score high on this? You were like, 5 or younger when most of these songs were playing...
to be a true master you must have been in high school during the 80s when all you did was worship videos and dance to these songs at the school dance... I graduated from Grade 13 in 1987... I scored way too high on this test.

I took it again and increased my score to 78.5 . I grew up with this stuff, but some of those are tough when a random line is out of context of the song...

I smacked my palm to me forehead when it reavealed some of the things I missed. I couldn't get some of the songs in my head to finish the lyrics. edit: looking in the above link, I improved quite well since the last time.

That quiz is waaaaay too long for me--I'm too ADD to stick with a song lyrics quiz for that long. I managed to get through about 50 and got 45 of them right. Perhaps someday I'll stick through the whole thing but somehow I doubt it.

That was fun.
I scored a 131, although the last five points are kind of cheap. I was born in '79, so, by all means I shouldn't have done that well on it. Good thing my Dad had horrible taste in music. "You belong to the city. You belong to the night." /warble

I got a 17.5 Although.. some of the songs I kinda remembered but got stuck, and I was born in the middle of the eighties... I also didn't pick an age range, so that lost me some points, but I don't think i was born before any of that stuff.. I dunno...

I got 50.1. A couple I just mixed a word a little bit on (similar words), and some of the songs that I actually liked I missed because of the obscurishness of the lyrics. Either way, I was born halfway into the '80s so I think I did pretty well.
For my score, I can blame radio stations and MuchMusic retro, as well as some of my dad's CD collection (a la U2). Can't believe I missed INXS though.

110.5 - seemed I got a few tough ones like the clash song, but missed ones I have in my CD collection, like whitesnake.
Actually, I have a *lot* of these songs in my CD collection...

Frighteningly enough, I have nearly all of those songs in my cd collection, barring Madonna and Bananorama.
I'm still a bit surprised that The Eagles was worth 10 points, that was the easiest one on there by far.

Easy on this kind of quiz is all relative. The clash song was easy, the toto song was easy, beyond thunderdome was easy - they weren't worth as much as the eagles song. BTW - I grew up without MTV so I have some kind of excuse...
