Guitarists - Need string help.
The other day I played an Ibanez electric that had these bizarro strings on it - it was like they were standard electric strings but were covered in a thin white Teflon like material that made them super slick - I loved the feel of the things but can't seem to find what brand they were. They're defininitely not Elixirs, as the coating was even thicker than those on Elixir strings...
Any ideas as to what these may have been? Thanks |
Well there are two types of Elixir strings I think, there's the regular ones and then there's the ones with a thinner coating, I think they're the Nanoweb ones. And D'Addario also has coated sets now I think. There's probably more coated brands out there too.

Yeah, they were some kind of coated strings, either Elixirs or D'Addarios, probably. Personally, I love them. They cost more, but they also keep their sound *much* longer. Some people dont like the feel of them, they tend to be slicker than normal strings, but that is why they make different types of coating.

Elixirs have polyweb and nanoweb coated strings. nanoweb's are supposed to feel uncoated/traditional so if they're elixirs they're polywebs.

Thanks very much - I still don't know what these strings are, but I do like them - they are almost like classical strings they are so fat and slick - like someone cooked Elixirs in boiling Teflon. I appreciate the above.
