Rap group Cannibal Ox has officially broken up. Group members Vast Aire and Vordul have parted ways and have canceled a planned 30 city tour with Jean Grae, which was slated to start October 17th.

"This is the second tour we canceled this year," former DJ Anthony "Cip One" Cipriani told AllHipHop.com. "Since leaving Def Jux, Vast and Vordul rarely speak to each other any more. Vast just wants to focus on his solo career."

Jean Grae expressed shock at the group members decision to call it quits. Grae was part of the tour, promoting her The Bootleg Of The Bootleg EP.

"People kept telling me it wouldn't happen due to the history of the group's situation with concert promoters worldwide," Jean Grae added. "Friday when Can Ox decided to pull out of the tour at the last second, as well as break up their group officially, we were pretty much left with nothing, except the pieces to try and pick up."

Grae's representatives have started planning a new tour to support The Bootleg of the Bootleg EP, which is in stores now.

Well there ya have it. Kinda sux. They had many fans. I think I remember checkin out The Cold Vein and not really liking it but I've also heard that few did on their first listen and after they let it grow on them...they loved it. Maybe I'll pick up some of their stuff now. Kind of a little late though eh? heh.

Oh man, this fuckin sucks. I really liked Cannibal Ox. I did hear from a friend that Vast Aire was workin on a solo project, but didn't know they broke up.

Cannibal Ox is like an acquired taste, after awhile you just love it if you let it grow on you. You should let it it grow a lil! :p

vast aire has one of the coolest voices in my opinion. i thought that vordul was holding the group back ... didnt think he has as much talent as vast. on the def jux dvd the label documentary focused on vast a lot and he is incredibly talented. this blows. funny that murs said on aesop rocks latest album that can ox wasnt broken up ... it was just a rumor.

Murs was prolly a lil in denile about it. Fact of the matter is only the actual group members themselves really know exactly how shit is with the group I mean how many times has a group been doin great and making great music and being rather successful and they decide to break up?
