Taking Back Sunday
Was just wondering if there were any fans of Taking Back Sunday here? They are a punk band that is on tour right now with Saves the Day. They are absolutely awesome in concert! They had, hands down, the -best- stage presence of any band I had ever seen. The amount of energy and raw punk spirit they put into their show was amazing.
If there are any punkers out there, check out that show when it comes into town near you. The ticket for the show here in St. Louis was only like $18, pretty damned cheap. |

I don't want to seem like the asshole here, but I'm going to anyway.
I would never ever put Taking Back Sunday or Saves the Day in the category of 'punk', but that's just me. Also If you're seeing them in Phoenix, I"m the redhead guy catching you in the barricade. I'm serious though, not punk.

I love TBS, they're from near where I live so... that's cool...
You're So Last Summer and Timberwolves at New Jersey are my favorites by them. I LOVE the You're So Last Summer video too, I mean how can you not? IT HAS FLAVA FLAV.

I've seen the band 3 times live. The first time was a week after "Tell All Your Friends" came out... it was the best show I'd ever been to.
The place was only half filled (I forget who they played with) in Columbia, SC. The first song started and the entire pit was filled with people out for a good time w/ no kids, 15 year old snotty looking girls who look at you funny cause you're sweating, and no fucking kungfu circle pits. We'd gotten the cd months before from a friend who knew the band, and Adam spent half the show letting other people sing. Basically just a lot of guys furiously bitching about girls... The two times since then varied from just ok (too many stage divers) to mediocre (bigger venue, more kids, and the band was too far away). I'd still recommend seeing them if you get the chance. XP btw, $18 is cheap? jesus christ... I usually get a happy ending for that kind of cash. |

Good tunes, definitely not real punk. Catchy and enjoyable nonetheless. I saw them about 2 years ago at a small club near me, they did put on a good show, got the crowd into it, which isn't always the case for a non-headlining band.

never see radio bands for this very reason :P. you end up having to pay an exorbant amount of money while you SIT and watch them with binoculars. check out some independent bands. most of the shows i go to never get over $15, and anything over that i wont go to, unless i get in free. and bullcrap that taking back sunday isnt punk! i heard their gonna be doin another tour with rancid, the casualties, a global threat, and the unseen! talk about punk! :P

Ok, about Taking Back Sunday...
I saw them in St. Louis the other week, and frankly, I wasn't impressed with their performance as a whole. Their stage presence was ok, but the music they played wasn't all that great. The lead singer was so busy swinging his microphone around that he wasn't concentrating on singing the right notes, and their bass player just sort of stood there most of the time. Their drummer wasn't as good as I thought he'd be, and was wearing an Ecko jersey t-shirt (???). I thought Saves the Day was much better musically. Their performance wasn't anything special, but then again, how many times can you thrash around and it still be cool? On the other hand, I saw Rufio and Mae today in St. Louis (like two hours ago from now) and enjoyed their performances quite a bit. Just a difference in taste, I suppose. |
