Who used to be good?

This thread is inspired by sleepyjack's dead musician thread.

What bands or musicians do you think should have stopped making music before they got bad, or at least not as good? Example: people would probably hold the Rolling Stones in higher regard if it was Mick Jagger who got gunned down in front of the Dakota in the early 80s.

I don't intend this to be a "I want them dead" thread. But if you think so-and-so used to be awesome, and should have quit when they were ahead... post here!

drown_with_me 10-17-2003 02:26 PM

U2.... they should have quit after Achtung! Baby

Conclamo Ludus 10-17-2003 02:31 PM

Aerosmith. I think they should've quit before doing soundtrack songs for Michael Bay movies.

IC3 10-17-2003 02:37 PM

Snoop Dog.

His first album was amazing...He is not what he used to be.

K-Wise 10-17-2003 03:36 PM

Busta Rhymes
Wyclef Jean
Fat Joe
Funk Master Flex
Eminem
Rancid

Drawing a blank now. It's mostly rappers in my mind....a lot of rappers.

God of Thunder 10-17-2003 03:46 PM

Just saw Foreigner in concert. Lou Gramm's voice isn't what it used to be. They should have stopped after 4.

And, I'm sorry to say, but KISS should have stopped after the farewell tour. Now they are lumped in with all of the other bands past their prime out touring just to make a buck.

K-Wise 10-17-2003 03:50 PM

Yeah Kiss and The Who don't really have what they used to have either. Least not last time I checked

Asta!!

kofspades 10-17-2003 04:02 PM

I'm going to take some crap, but Creed's first album was good. It's been all down hill since....

thumper69 10-17-2003 04:19 PM

Van Halen went all down hill when they lost the voice of David Lee Roth, what a shame.
And all because of trustworthiness....?
good stuff though :)

K-Wise 10-17-2003 04:41 PM

I'll take even more heat cause I liked Creed's second album more than the first. The first was like okay My Own Prison which is great and a bunch a other songs that are good for maybe one listen. Sorry I own it...hardly listen to it and when I do it's only My Own Prison. Human Clay however I like Beautiful, Inside Us All, Wash Away Those Years, What If... I dunno I like a good deal a songs on it some were pretty heavy I dunno why people called em so soft. I dunno bout Weathered though cause I don't own it. I think I need to give the first one another listen though...I might change my mind.

Asta!!

ghezzo 10-17-2003 06:03 PM

Limp Bizkit, there first album was good, every album since has gone downhill
Linkin Park, there first album was actually considered rock, now i dont think they can make up there minds whether they want to rap or rock.

Chingal0 10-17-2003 06:18 PM

Hmm. That guy from House of Pain, everlast. He should have stopped before he started.

And yea, I agree, Snoop Dogg's music now is weaksauce. He needs to do an oldschool cd next or something reminiscent of Doggystyle.

bundy 10-17-2003 06:47 PM

Michael Jackson.

drown_with_me posted my excact reaction to the header.

U2..they should have quit after Achtung! Baby

Mr.Deflok 10-18-2003 02:34 AM

Pearl Jam.

HeadyIncognito 10-19-2003 12:47 AM

I surely like The Living End's older stuff more than the new stuff.

Rudel73 10-19-2003 08:57 AM

The Offspring...they went mainstream and their newest stuff sux!

OFKU0 10-19-2003 08:45 PM

The Beach Boys.Saw them 25 years ago and they were great. Every year they just reduce themselves to that of a good barband.Sad.

flecktone4 10-27-2003 07:45 PM

offspring
aerosmith

shit that i don't listen to, but might have.

Renegade 10-27-2003 07:52 PM

Metallica... I hope the rumors of them breaking up are true...

Black Album... decent.
Load... crappy.
ReLoad... even more crappy.
St. Anger... A giagantic pile of shit.

Worst production ever!

31Friction 10-27-2003 07:56 PM

Metallica (After the Black Album)
Limp Bizkit (they only had one even close to good cd.. their first)
Korn (After Life is Peachy)
Offspring (After Smash)
Snoop (after doggystyle BUT he should have kept up with collaborations until the point he did a tune for the Gran Tourismo II SDTRK)

flecktone4 10-27-2003 08:23 PM

+1 Metallica

halfshot182 10-27-2003 09:49 PM

Korn was awesome. their first thru 3rd albums were amazing imo. then issues was alright but kinda sucked and i think by the time untouchables came out john davis's voice was just gone down the crapper

HugAPug 10-27-2003 11:15 PM

I'm going to second Korn but I say they went downhill after Life is Peachy. Follow the Leader was, in my opinion, the worst Korn album. I'm just hoping their new album in November will bring back my faith in them. Fingers crossed...

Oh and put me down for Metallica. I'm so original.

HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU SAY THAT?

they kick ass. ok ROLL ON wasnt as commercial as THE LIVING END but it is a fucken good album if you actually listen to it.

i saw them in concert this year at the big day out here in australia, and they took second best band there for me. the only band that beet them was queens of the stone age. most of the bands there had nothing over the living ends intensity and stage presence

Ripsaw 10-28-2003 11:08 AM

Pearl Jam. Vitology? No Code?
Metallica. Load? Re-Load?

World's King 10-28-2003 01:17 PM

Radiohead

'nuff said.

mercury-hg 10-28-2003 01:37 PM

Well, when I said older stuff, I mean't Hellbound and It's For Your Own Good. And when I said newer stuff, I mean't whatever the new album is called.

h2ogo69 10-29-2003 02:17 PM

korn
limp bizkit
linkin park
green day
dmx

Alas this is the truth, and I hate it so... why can't they get back together and make another Demanufacture?! :(

supafly 10-30-2003 02:52 AM

Blink-182 made good stuff untill their new album released.

Jesus Pimp 10-30-2003 07:02 AM

Another vote goes for Metallica. Everything went downhill after the black album.

Deftones used to be good: The new album sucks!

Marilyn Manson: Started falling after Anti-Christ Superstar.

Radiohead: Abstraction is good but leads to boredem.

Pearl Jam: Everything went to crap after the first album.
