R.I.P. Robert Palmer
Word out of Paris is that Robert Palmer died of a heart attack at age 54. I remember him, or more correctly, his videos with the models that all looked alike. I also remember him from Power Station.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMFG!!!! Man, that sucks. I loved what he did with Powerstation too. On paper, that didn't seem like it would work. Two members of Duran Duran, Tony Thompson & Bernard Edwards from Chic and Robert Palmer singing just didn't sound like it would work. But, DAMN!!, what a sound. |
He really did have a voice. He also had a fair amount of class. I really enjoyed his music. I'll miss him.

I was just listening to Radio Paradise, and they played "Some Like It Hot." I commented on their message board that I didn't expect to hear that song from them - and then found out what happened.

Bummer.
'Nother one bites the dust. |
Yeah, the bass/drums combo of John Taylor and Tony Thompson was a big part of what got me into Power Station way back when, Palmer's voice added an amazing twist to the music. Good stuff.
He'll be missed. |
He was one very cool guy. Sorry to see him go...
|
Thanks to the mods for combining my thread with this one. I missed it, sorry.
He did have a great voice. Very powerful. "Feel the heat. Pushing you to decide." |
Bang a gong...get it on...

bad year for heart attacks so far- damn shame.
*goes to download a fresh VBR copy of the Robert Palmer albums on Emusic to replace the crappy old CBR ones* |
omg...
that is terrible news. great music, great man. |
I was addicted to love....
sheesh |
He just made an appearence on a local radio station like two weeks ago. He was in such high spirits...he just finished an album of all blues tunes. The tracks they played were phenomenal. It sounded like him, but the music was so bluesy and ruff. It was great. I'm not sure if the album has been released, but if I can find it, I'll own it. Something is in the air, all these young guys passing and what not. I'll miss his tunes.

That sucks. I liked his music back in the day, and they play it on the radio at work, so I still dig 'em. I still jam out to one of my mom's records of his. I shared a birthday with him, too.
