Music appreciation thread
Without mentioning any bands or such, i just wanted to start a thread to share the love of music in general and what it does for us. I think we sometimes take it for granted but i was thinking just know how much it influences my life and how much i get out of it and need it.
Be it for fun, dancing, working out, escapism, soothing, relief from some emotions or just the times when you have that song in your head and you wait all day for that glorious moment when you get home and you put it on and all tension is resolved. three cheers for music, hip-horay, hip-horay, hip-horay Share the love :) |
The old question "Would you rather go blind or deaf?" is an easy one for me, without a doubt.

I'd also rather go deaf than blind, even though I'm a muso and it's a huge part of my life I would give it up for my sight.
But err, back to the original topic :P Music is an outlet for my emotions, ones too strong to use verbal means. |
Music rocks.
Asta!! |
Music is more than just for the ears. its a whole body experiance. when you hear that one song ... that one that makes you shiver and make your hairs stand on end as you scream out the lyrics, thats why music is so incredible. however you feel, there is an artist for it.
|
Regarding the deaf vs. blind thing, I think I'd rather go blind than deaf. I think being deaf would make me feel more isolated than being blind. I would hate for music to no longer be able to lull me to sleep. I would hate to miss seeing what my daughter looks like as she grows older, but I think I'd miss being able to talk to her more.
Also, I've never seen anything so beautiful that sends chills down my back, but numerous times it has happened with music. I think one of the best things of modern society is that you can hear music whenever you want. Imagine living before electricity. Yikes. |

i think iīd rather pick being deaf. eyesight is just such a dominant sense for us... (and i think sign language is pretty sexy) however, i have always loved music. i have played for as long as i can remember. Jack, i agree... Three Cheers for MUSIC! for all of its forms and for all of the pleasure it gives. |
My Apologies Sleepyjack, I seem to have created an unintentional de-rail. :(
So sorry. Jdoe |
I love music, I'm probably rate right up there with the biggest music lovers! But to me there is nothing like the sight of my beautiful wife while riding up and down my pole. Maybe my mind will change when I have to use Viagara, but for right now I'd definately rather go deaf.

music music music.
kill your television. i love live music. i never knew how much until i started working security for local shows. didn't like the job but i got paid to see some great bands play. don't do it anymore but i still try to see as many shows as i can. |
"there's a movie called
Shoot the Piano Player the last line proclaimin' "music, man, that's where it's at" it is a religious line outside, the chimes rung an' they are still ringin'" - Bob Dylan That sums up my love of music pretty well. It's where it's at. |

*and bundy....what do you play again?* |
I love music. I have my little radio here at work, I listen to my car radio, when I get home I put my radio on. Music can make me happy, or make me sad. Sometimes with just one note. It's wonderful.

music runs through my head all the time. and i love finding new bands i enjoy, or old ones i didn't know about so i can dig up their back catalog......
but when i finally picked up a guitar & started making music, i knew i was REALLY home. i'm not good, and i have no desire to get up on a stage, but i now know i'll be strummin' til i die! |
I'm quite sure I wouldn't want to go on living if I couldn't listen to music anymore. It's such a huge part of my existence. Nothing makes me feel the way I do when I'm listening to a good tune.

the famous one note chord at the beginning of "a hard day's night" can always make me smile. :) regarding the blind/deaf thing, i'd rather be blind.. and i'm an artist! music and art is a passion but music always keeps me grounded. besides, i'd like to think i have a pretty good imagination. so i could 'see' with my mind and touch. |
hmm i don't care if you've derailed the thread, you probably made it better in the process :p
Although that deaf/blind thing has been done before, and i pretty much agree with anti fishstick on that one. |

Music needs to be playing all the time here, or it just doesn't feel right.
