Dave Matthews-Some Devil
I don't own any Dave Matthews Band CD's, but I bought his solo disc today (just $9.99 at Best Buy....god I love that place).
I have to say that after the first 2 songs I thought it was just going to sound like DMB, but then it really started getting good. The title track is amazing. Gravedigger is a classic. Tracks 8 and 9 (don't remember the names off the top of my head) are also very good. Plus I got a bonus disc that had 5 live songs that's just Dave and another guy on acoustic guitars. amazing stuff. Anyone else get this today?

See I was wondering about that album cause ya know I heard gravedigger and it's good but it sounds just like a Dave Mathews Band son. Reminds me a Don't Drink The Water n what not. I dunno why he went solo though cause I mean....he's the only one singing in the band I could see going solo with groups n shit but not when you're the only vocalist I'm pretty sure the rest of the band wouldn't mind playing what Dave wanted em to. I'm thinkin bout pickin it up cause I've always liked the band..so why wouldn't I like him ya know?

It's a different lineup. No violin or other trademark DMB instruments, and Trey Anastasio is the lead guitarist. Mostly guitars and strings on this one.

So far I love it, it's an interesting direction for DM especially considering his normal sound.
Great album

it definitely gets better with repetition. "Some Devil" (the song) is so simple but it's the most beautiful song on the album. "Grey Blue Eyes" sounds like it could be Peter Gabriel instead of DM

Well I've always thought Dave Mathews sounds A LOT like Peter Gabriel. At least his voice does a lot though not exactly. The music tends to differ a bit though.

Being the DMB fan I am, I ran out and bought this CD Tuesday night. And I'm not disappointed at all. Definetly digging the bonus CD, too. Has anyone bought Boyd Tinsley's solo album? I'm probably going to pick it up--he has a great voice, and he's definetly a helluva musician.

i've got it playing right now. i thought it was going to sound quite different, but after a few listens i'm pretty neutral. there are some good tracks that i play often and there are some that i know i'll never get in to.
few more listens and it should be great. the live CD is cool too. |
