Outkast - Speakerboxxx/The Love Below

Just wondering, is anyone gonna buy this CD when it drops? I may buy it. Hopefully it's good!

i just got it, 2cds, first is all big boi, second is all andre 3k. i like andre's cd a lot better, the song 'Spread' is really good. Big Boi's disk is really soulful, if you like r&b. Andre's is a lot more experimental.

This song annoyed the hell out of me for the first week or so of the radio playing it, now it is really growing on me.

For like a week I couldn't figure out what they were saying...it sounded like...."Shake it like a pony ride preacher" or "Shake it like a pony ride teacher" then finally I got it "Shake it like a polaroid picture", Well that makes sense.

Hey ladies!
Now what's cooler than cool...ICE COLD!!!

dre's (the love below disk) is odd and takes some warming up to. its really funk inspired and i dunno how experimental it is, but with dre's unique voice it makes for an interesting listen. it sorta steers away from traditional hip hop. big boi's disk (speakerboxx) in my opinion picked up where stankonia left off. he has a tight flow and the guest mc's on it made it the better album. where are my panties though on dre's disk is funny as hell though :P

i love big boi's cd. Speakerbox is the kinda stuff we're used to from outkast, really funky New South shit, which is awsome. Jay-z and the dungeon family arepresented in full accord. as for Dre's cd. I kinda listened to it and said what the hell is he trying to do. I'm not a fan. I don't think Dre's talent is there in the new stuff. I like the kind of music it is. thats jazzy flavor and all but i don't think he does good with it. but as a whole the cd is worth checking out. outkast does they thang and there is some really incredible stuff on it. and if you want a good deal i think Bestbuy.com has it on preorder for 10.99. thats an amazing price on a dub cd

I've been an Outkast fan for quite some time now, so i definitely plan on checkin out their new album.

I actually thought i would like Andre's disc better, but from what i've read here it sounds like BigBoi's is the peoples choice!

I'll let you guys know what i think after i listen to it.

Well, Big Boi's CD is more of what you'd hear from Outkast. It sticks to the sound and feel of Outkast. Has some nice guest artists on some of his songs like Ludacris, Jay Z, Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz and some others. Andre 3000's CD is more experimental. He uses a lot of different sounds and feels. His songs are more funk sounding. He has a song called "Pink & Blue" which to me, almost sounds like a Prince song. Overall both CDs are good and I think I'm actually liking Andre 3000's CD better, but that's just me.

Which one is the gay one? Big Boi or Andre?

I'm not anti-gay, but that skinny guy is seriously the most flamboyant rapper I've ever seen. I've always been curious what the hip-hop culture thinks of him, since that culture is generally pretty anti-gay.

I know he's probably not gay, but he totally reminds me of Chris Tucker's character in The 5th Element

I'm actually just a new Outkast fan, but I'm pretty confident that most of the hip-hop culture you refer to see him as the "coolest thing since sliced bread." And I don't think he's gay.

Dammit. I'm going to have to buy it just to see which CD I prefer. Releasing two CDs under the Outkast name for a reasonable price was genius.

I want to take a minutes to say thanks to everyone who posted in this thread. I've always liked OutKast and downloaded their singles (except Ms. Jackson 'cause that song sucks) and after seeing the intellects of the TFP unanimously agree that this double-album is very good I went out and bought it... and oh my, what an amazing album!!! I never buy black music because I can only listen to a song about bangin' "yo bitches" and "drivin' by yo nigger ass" so many times.

This is such an excellent album, these guys really understand music and aren't just rappers who are fucked up the ass by white producers.

p.s. I think I'm the only black person I know who isn't keen on black music

I think its their best effort yet. They are going on my list of artists that shit gold. I'm really blown away by their genre-hopping madness. Andre 3000 spans every black artists in the past 4 decades! He's Sammy Davis Jr. one minute, then over to Prince, then he hops into Curtis Mayfield, and lands on John Coltrane, and then he stands alone. Incredible. Big Boi hits hard blasting you with a breakbeat big band fusion. These guys continue to shatter the boundries of hip-hop. Pretty damn refreshing.

Very cool, both CD's are. Check out "Hey Ya!", "The Way You Move", Ghettomusick", "Take Off Your Cool", and "Tomb Of The Boom".

Andre 3000's "The Love Below" CD is, well, hit-or-miss, heh. A select few songs I don't care for much, but for the most part it's easy-listening and poetic music. Big Boi's "Speakerboxxx" CD is like Stankonia Part 2, which is a very good thing. However, despite the greatness of these two CD's, I hope they work together for now on...it's not normal to have them go their own ways.
