Drug Music
I'm just curious about all the users and abusers out there, what is your favorite type of music to get fucked up to?
For me, whenever i hear Dark Side of the Moon I feel like its my responsibility as a human to smoke a fat joint. A few years back when i tried Ecstacy I would blast some techno or Aephix Twin on my home theater system! So let us all know what type of music you listen to when you get crunked up! Peace |
well.. I don't smoke anymore- but I also used to love to get high to Dark Side. Other good ones were Roxy Music, Alan Parsons Project, ELO, Black Sabbath.... but really it was all good!
|
A lot of low key hip hop songs are what I like to blaze to. Krayzie Bone - Smokin' Budda is a good example. Then again once I'm high any kind of hip hop is good.
|
John Tesh sounds wicked on shrooms, and when I drink boilermakers, Cathy Lee Gifford puts the ram in my rod, packs my balls, and powders my behind.
|
John Tesh? Kathy Lee Gifford? Man, you must be stoned outta your mind to get into that crap.
Personally, nothing beats Sigur Ros. |
this is kind of a lame answer, but I would say that drugs sort of make the music that I already like better.
I would add that if I was doing a drug that really made my heart race, it is likely that I would listen to something up-tempo (breakbeat, hardcore or drum and bass) c_b |
Sigur Ros! interesting answer...
I love me some psychedelic goa trance... Hallucinogen is classic, and I'm digging on CPU and Fractal Glider these days *grin* shoot me a message if you want any tracks.. |
HipHop & Jungle...I love listening to music after I smoke a Joint.
|
The Velvet Underground
|
All worthy answers.
Yea i forgot to mention im a big underground hip-hop fanatic...Atmosphere is real emotional when you're blazed. Black eyed peas and Talib Kweli are also some of my choice smokin' artists. |
Shpongle and Sigur Ros when I'm on psychedelics, Tears for Fears when I'm high.
The Velvet Underground is definately good too. Aphex Twin is worth a listen too, especially the ambient volumes |
shpongle is fucking awesome
hallucinogen, absolum, infected mushroom.. any good pystrance/goa/techno in general works well -alec |
I don't smoke anymore, but...
Massive Attack has awesome grooves, lotsa sounds. Sonic Youth is very experimental with sounds, trippy stuff. Jefferson Airplane catered to a whole generation of stoners. Morphine is really smooth sounding, cool when stoned, 2 string bass, sax, drums, and vocals. Mellow! I miss pot. |

When I smoked, its AC/DC, Black Sabbeth, Pink Floyd (DSOTM & Wish You Were Here & The Wall), The Dead, or Zeppelin. All depends on the mood.
|
Sublime and Pink Floyd
|
It's gotta be the Beatles. I mean, they were high when they wrote most of their stuff anyway, so wouldn't you be able to understand it better in an "altered" state?

can´t believe no ones mentioned Jack Johnson and Ben Harper yet.
thats the usual getting baked music around here atm. if its something a little bit whiter and more powdery, then i guess whatever music is playing in the club or pub is good enough. and if its disco bickies, then its got to be something you can dance to. (although i know guys who´ve even danced along to a boring train announcement when they were pinging off their tits - so i guess you can dance to anything with that sort of help). |
anything by pink floyd is great well i geuss roger watters now but still
|
wow, I'm so surprised to see so much Shpongle & psy *grin*
here is a fantastic stream for when you're lighting up, and don't have time to dig throughyour CDs... just click this for some psychedelic action: http://philosomatika.com/Philosomatika.pls or just go to http://philosomatika.com and link yourself =) long live the mind warp |
PS - if you like Shpongle, I would highly recommend checking out:
Younger Brother - by the same guy who does shpongle (simon posford).. a little more dancy, but still the same vibe... Hallucinogen in Dub and Ott - great dubby, psybient stuff Eclipse - a compilation, featurues shpongle and other similar stuff Infected Mushroom - The Messenger |
I should mention the Avalanches
|
AND HENDRIX...I FORGOT HENDRIX. I have a lot of good memories to the intros to Jimi Hendrix songs...
|
Jefferson Airplane cause sometimes you need somebody to love.........and get high with.
|
Ween
Ween is my personal favorite band to listen to when I am in an altered state.
|
Chic Corea, Beatles, Phish, and Dave Matthews for anything
If you are rolling however, listen to some motherfuckin SNOW and tell me you don't love it. |
How could I forget Phish :(
I'm going to go hand my head in shame now |
Chemical Brothers. I don't do drugs, but they'd be good for this kinda thing :P
|

|
i've always thought that listening to jane's addiction's nothing shocking gave me the experience of doing heroin without having to do it myself (especially "summertime rolls").
|
Aleja, you have awesome taste in drug music!
I'll second everything you put down and add: - Godspeed You! Black Emperor (hash) - Hangedup (acid) - Ween (pot) - Hall & Oates ('shrooms... I know, I know... I should really lay off the 'shrooms) |
The Akira Soundtrack. Namely Requiem, Illusion, and of course, Doll's Polyphony.
|
queens of the stone age, kyuss, foo fighters
anything that is really toned down and raw |
early Jethro Tull, Traffic (especially Low Spark), Hendrix and the Beatles, of course, all were good to listen to back in the day, with a good buzz on
