I'm not sure if you guys know this or not. But very little of the money you spend on an Artists CD actually goes to him. The Record label gets probably 97% of it depending on the contract.
Say an artist sells 100,000 CDs which is pretty good at $12.00 a pop, that would make a total of $1,200,000. The artsist would only see $60,000 of this and the rest would go to the Record Label. The artist makes ALL of his money from live shows, he could easily earn more money than an entire CD in 1 sold out show making at least $65,000-90,000 depending on if they sell tickets at $40. Buying a CD IS NOT supporting the artist, it is supporting the bloodsucking RIAA scoundrals. You can support the artist by going to his shows. Bands like Pearl Jam are fed up with the record Industry, they're contract is up and now they're selling their songs online on their website. This is what more artists should do, fuck the RIAA... |
