That was Poco, great band!!!

Damn it, I knew the Bonham one too.

Ok, what band did Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth form after the breakup of the Talking Heads?

perripken 09-22-2003 07:54 AM

I know the answer, however, I will give some new blood a chance.

Tom Tom Club?

perripken 09-22-2003 08:07 PM

That is correct costello, your turn to come up with a question.

costello 09-22-2003 08:21 PM

lame ... i joined the thread and missed out on the elvis costello questions so im throwing another one in :)

Elvis Costello's first album, "My Aim Is True" was released in July 1977. Who was the backing group for this effort?

God of Thunder 09-23-2003 04:05 AM

I'm thinking the obvious answer "The Attractions", but I could be wrong.

high_way 09-23-2003 04:24 AM

was it a band called Clover???

perripken 09-23-2003 05:02 AM

Sorry G.O.T., High_way is correct. The Attractions were on the second album "Armed Forces"

Derwood 09-23-2003 05:48 AM

I'll throw in a question:

There is only one song in the Pink Floyd library that has drummer Nick Mason on "lead vocal". Can you name it?

perripken 09-23-2003 05:56 AM

Sorry Derwood, the rules of the thread are that you have to answer a question to ask a question. High_way is on deck.
I do like your question, though!

Derwood 09-23-2003 06:13 AM

ok. I just asked cuz the last answerer didn't ask.

And I got half of the Rock N' Roll/Country hall of fame question right......

perripken 09-23-2003 06:26 AM

You did better than I did, I think I only got Elvis. We'll give high_way until noon today to ask a question, if he doesn't by then, your Floyd question is up. BTW are we talking Nick Mason actually singing, or speaking. I know he has several songs where he speaks, one in particular on Momentary Lapse- actually there is another trivia question in that one!

Derwood 09-23-2003 07:21 AM

you give too many hints already! (he he he)

I figured "The Attractions" was too obvious, but I answered anyways, just in case.

costello 09-23-2003 09:01 AM

yeah, just a stupid sidenote ... clover were called the shamrocks when they preformed.

I guess his time is up, so the Floyd question is up. I just don't know the answer.

Derwood 09-23-2003 03:57 PM

Well, there may be a discrepancy in the answer to my question, so I'll pose another:

Who is the only person to perform on every Pink Floyd album?

perripken 09-23-2003 08:27 PM

Man Derwood... are you sure about this? I thought that the only person in Floyd on Animals was Gilmour, and he wasn't on every album- he replaced Syd Barret. Other than that, I thought that Mason and Wright were on every other album all the way from their original band with Roger Waters called Abdab.

high_way 09-24-2003 03:58 AM

The Yardbirds

OK, one inspired by our friendly RIAA, the company that loves it's customers so much, they are suing them...but, that's another thread.:D

Elvis Presley has the most Gold Records of any artist - 89 (combining albums & singles)

The Beatles are tops for a group at 41.

The top American group has 24...Name them.

high_way 09-24-2003 04:16 AM

creedance clearwater revival

Hey kids,
We still have an unanswered question-We need to keep this at one question at a time or things will get out of hand. As the thread starter, I'm going to impose a 12 hour rule from when someone posts an answer to when another question is asked.
This is to keep the thread moving somewhat. It also gives you guys time to work, sleep, etc.
The rules are this:
An unanswered question has 24 hours before it is deemed a stumper. At that point, the asker will ask another question (hopefully a little easier)
An answered question has 12 hours to be confirmed. If you are certain you have the question correct, go ahead and ask a new question to move this thing along.
On the same lines, after a question has been confirmed correct, the person who answers it has 12 hours from that point to ask a new one. If that doesn't happen, the answer is nullified and the person who asked the last question, asks a new one.
I try to check in on this thread at least a couple times a day. I am designating God of Thunder (if he chooses to accept) as an alternate thread regulator. It seems that he is in here just as much as I am.

God of Thunder 09-24-2003 06:13 AM

2 things

1. I accept as co-regulator

2. CCR is wrong.

First hint. It's probably not who you would think.

PS the Floyd question is still active.

perripken 09-24-2003 06:42 AM

I'm pretty sure I know the answer G.O.T.- and it has to do with your avatar, correct? And yes Derwood, your Floyd question is still valid, but I still want to know if you're sure about this question. I'm not, and if true, we have until 7:57 pm tonight to answer.

We have a winner!!

That was going to be my next hint :p

Derwood 09-24-2003 01:02 PM

The answer:

Nick Mason

David Gilmour: Not on "Piper at the Gates of Dawn"

Roger Waters: Not on "Momentary Lapse of Reason" or "Division Bell"

Richard Wright: Not on "The Final Cut"

God of Thunder 09-24-2003 04:53 PM

Since we didn't have an aswer to the Floyd question, (good stumper by the way) and since we don't want two questions floating out there again, perripken gets to ask the next question since he got mine right.

Yes it does.

For those of you who can't tell, that is Gene Simmons breathing fire in my avatar.

KISS has the most gold records of any American group.

Stump away perripken.

Yes, but you asked it too.

I meant that no one else had answered it, therefore it was a stumper. I guess I didn't make that clear.

Sorry, my bad.

perripken 09-24-2003 08:00 PM

No, that's ok G.O.T., Derwood can ask the next question, his question was only a couple hours away from being 24 hours and I really don't think anyone was going to get it. By the way Derwood, I did some research and you're absolutely correct! I thought I read somewhere that Nick Mason and Richard Wright weren't on Animals because they were doing solo projects at the time, but I found out that Mr. Mason was indeed the only Floydian to be on every album. Too cool! Good question!

Melllvar 09-24-2003 08:36 PM

Next question: How did the band Yes come up with the title for their 1983 album "90125"? [/B][/QUOTE]

Actually, They were going to call it "The New Yes Album" then 90104, which was the catalog number they picked. They couldn't use it after their management
said another band had taken it, so the catalog number 90125 was given to them. The title was chosen to keep things simple.

Had to share. I'm a die-hard Yes fan. :-D

Jdoe 09-24-2003 11:53 PM

Just a friendly reminder folks. You need to answer a question correctly before asking a new one.

Jdoe

God of Thunder 09-25-2003 04:06 AM

He was adding more info to a question already answered, not asking a new one.

BTW folks, we need a new question.

Derwood is up.

Yes, that was an old question he was adding to, and I have no problem with that- the more info the better. Thanks Melllvar!
That is one of my favorite Yes albums. Trevor Rabin is awesome!

And yes, Derwood is still up!

Jdoe 09-25-2003 08:36 AM

Doh, sorry about that. "I are the stupid."

Jdoe

God of Thunder 09-25-2003 11:42 AM

S'ok.

Since Derwood has not asked a question I'll alow you to ask one as an introduction to the thread.

Knock yourself out, test our wisdom.

Derwood 09-25-2003 01:36 PM

I'm here, i just got back from work (which I have to wake up at 5:15 am for....)

Ok, let's see....

Can you name the 3 groups that the members of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young were in prior to forming their supergroup.

Hint: 2 were in the same band together.

God of Thunder 09-26-2003 03:31 AM

Steven Stills and Neil Young were a part of Buffalo Springfield

David Crosby came from The Byrds

Graham Nash was a member of the Hollies.

Ok, now a Michigan based question.

What band was Ted Nugent a part of before going solo and before forming Damn Yankees.

PS. It pisses me off that I'm not old enough to have seen some of these bands playing in their prime around this state. I have older cousins who did see them and they remind me of it.

perripken 09-26-2003 04:59 AM

Journey to the center of your mind-
Amboy Dukes- I was eight years old!

perripken 09-26-2003 05:12 AM

Here's one for all you AC/DC fans.

The late Bon Scott was in a band before AC/DC.
What was the name of the band.
