perripken, that's the group. You're up.

perripken 02-04-2004 03:29 PM

Ok, I'm sticking with Dire Straits for this question:
In the early 90's after the group broke up, what famous guitar player asked Mark Knofler to collaborate with him on an album that they called "Neck and Neck"?

GuttersnipeXL 02-04-2004 03:46 PM

Ahh! One of my all time favorites...Chet Atkins.

Name two bands that contained members of The Grateful Dead. An easy one for ya's.

perripken 02-04-2004 05:35 PM

Yes.... a.k.a Mr. Guitar!

pan6467 02-04-2004 06:45 PM

Knopfler and Atkins together? How does the album sound?

perripken 02-05-2004 10:29 AM

I'm not sure, I never listened to it. Was just aware of it. It kinda fell into my changing over to CD's from vinyl. Just a reminder... there is a question on the board and it's almost 24 hours. I know the answers, but I'd like to see someone else answer it.

tritium 02-05-2004 12:24 PM

Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions
and
The Warlocks

right?

tritium 02-05-2004 01:00 PM

On the chance that I'm correct. Here's my question.

Identify this singer from his brief bio:
"Born June 1st of 1953, in Coleman, Texas, he briefly studied theology at Abilene Christian College in Texas before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma. There, he fronted the house band at a popular nightspot called Duke's Country and, later, broke into the national spotlight by winning a talent contest sponsored by Marlboro."

perripken 02-05-2004 03:32 PM

I will agree with Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions, but I don't know about the Warlocks.... Do we have any Dead afficianato's to confirm that?

tritium 02-05-2004 04:12 PM

Wow. It took a long time to find this on the net. http://www.accessplace.com/gdtc/1174.htm

That's Jerry, Bob, Pigpen, and Bill (everyone minus Phil Lesh).

Here's the "GD" lineup.
http://www.accessplace.com/gdtc/1173.htm

perripken 02-05-2004 04:34 PM

Cool..... great piece of trivia tritium! As far as your question goes... I had no idea, therefore I cheated!

Well, I know Garth Brooks got his start in Oklahoma, but was born way after 53, so he's out.

I don't think it was Johhny Cash,

I'll guess Merle Haggard

perripken 02-05-2004 05:44 PM

Ain't Merle dude.... Isn't he the Okie from Muscogee?

tritium 02-05-2004 09:24 PM

Nope, not Merle. Merle is the Okie from Muscogee, yes.

I'll give a hint in the morning.

rideough 02-06-2004 04:12 AM

Is it Ronnie Dunn from Brooks and Dunn??

tritium 02-06-2004 07:53 AM

You got it, rideough.

Sorry for they delay...You are correct. I would have also accepted, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Phil and Friends, Kingfish, or Ratdog.

rideough 02-07-2004 05:03 AM

Ok tritium you take this one ...I can't think of a question!

God of Thunder 02-08-2004 04:31 PM

OK we need a question here!!

Rideough answered correctly, but then passed of to tritium, but neither have asked.

I declare it open.

First person with a question gets to ask. Normal rules apply after that.

KWSN 02-08-2004 04:39 PM

I think I'll have a go...

A band's drummer is the new drummer for the band whose OLD drummer was Jeremiah Green.

Name the band, the drummer, and his new band.

perripken 02-09-2004 02:05 PM

Never heard of him

KWSN, this is officially a stumper....next question please.

perripken 02-10-2004 01:10 PM

Ok... it's almost been 48 hours, so I'm going to keep this thing moving. I would like to know the answer to KWSN's question, though.
Question: What fairly succesful band was Peter Frampton co-founder of before he went solo in 1971?

Humble Pie

I dont have a question - someone else go

perripken 02-10-2004 01:42 PM

right- someone take it please!

God of Thunder 02-10-2004 01:52 PM

OK, what leader of an 80's band now is known for scoring kids shows such Rugrats and Pee-Wee's Playhouse and what band was he in?

KWSN 02-10-2004 04:45 PM

Answer to mine:

Jeremiah Green left Modest Mouse, whose new drummer is the drummer from the Helio Sequence, Benjamin Weikel.

KWSN 02-10-2004 04:46 PM

Oh and the band is Devo, the guy is Mark Mothersbaugh, god of thunder.

KWSN 02-10-2004 06:56 PM

BTW someone else can make a new question. I'm not going to be posting for a while.

God of Thunder 02-11-2004 04:26 AM

KWSN is correct, but I'll let someone else have a go.

God of Thunder 02-11-2004 08:30 AM

Allright, come on now people!!!

Let's not let what is happening in other parts of this board bring this thread down.

Since no one will step up and ask a question, I will give it another shot. And because of that, I will make it another KISS question.

A collective nooooooooooooooooooooo!! is heard all throughout the land  and a devilishly evil laugh is heard from The God of Thunder "mua ha ha ha ha ha!!

Actually, it's all I could come up with.

OK, the question. It has potential to be a stumper, but, serves you right.

Current KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer was once lead singer of what Gene Simmons produced LA band?

perripken 02-11-2004 09:01 AM

Sorry GOT, I had to peek! Never heard of the band he came from.
I echo your feelings about this thread.... seems there's been a lack of interest lately. I have a hunch that it has something to do with the titty board being back in full swing. I feel though, that you and I have kept one of the most succesful threads going.
18 pages and counting! Thanks for your help!

God of Thunder 02-11-2004 09:08 AM

Not a problem, dude. I'm somewhat amazed myself we've been able to keep it going so long.

and btw, I stumped ya again

They're not a well known band, except to KISS fans. They opend up for them during the mid-eighties. Tommy however has been associated with the band ever since. He actually served as art-director for the box set and on the production team during the un-plugged show.

tritium 02-11-2004 09:09 AM

Been travelling a lot lately. I'll be back in the swing of things as soon as my schedule settles down. Was even having trouble with getting the Free Tracks done -- took on some help with those to make sure they get taken care of.

No idea on that question, G.O.T.

kulrblind 02-11-2004 10:00 AM

God of Thunder
Is it "Black N Blue"?

perripken 02-11-2004 10:26 AM

we have a winner.... I only know 'cause I googled and I'm honest!
your question kulrblind!
BTW tritium.... I have downloaded some of your free tracks, but honestly haven't been able to listen. My speakers are not working. Thanks for your effort!

As Perripken already said, yes it is.

I saw them open for KISS in 1988 and they blew me away, too bad they never made a name for themselves.

perripken 02-12-2004 06:02 AM

Well, once again we have a situation where someone has answered a question and the clock is ticking. In four hours the answer will have been on the floor for 24 hours. At that time the floor will be open to a new question.
PEOPLE..... please! If you are going to make an attempt to answer a question, please check back and see if your answer was correct so that you can ask a new one. This is the exact reason that I imposed the 24 hour rule. I know people are busy, however, we have to keep this thing moving along!
:(

Sion 02-12-2004 10:45 AM

I got one. Name the Charles Bronson movie for which Jimmy Page did the musical score.

perripken 02-12-2004 05:49 PM

I believe that would be Death Wish 2, and he also played guitar for it, correct?
