Tophat665 01-16-2004 09:02 PM

Oof, That was a total guess/"wouldn't it be funny if it were right" kind of thing.

OK, let's try this: The band called "Soft White Underbelly" went on to become what better know band?

(Edit: Sorry Kids, I have to be interested in the band to know the trivia, so it's either old or loud or both. I'm 34, but I'm more in the generation before mine than my own.)

rideough 01-17-2004 04:33 AM

Blue Oyster Cult

rideough 01-17-2004 04:33 AM

I've got a fever and the only cure is MORE COWBELL!!!

Tophat665 01-17-2004 07:01 AM

Absolutely! Rideough, your question.

rideough 01-17-2004 08:06 AM

What year did Zeppelin start Swan Song and what was its original name?

Sorry all I know is Zeppelin

perripken 01-17-2004 11:25 AM

Loved the Cult question, Tophat!

Thanks! I figured with my argument in the "Greatest Band Ever" thread, it was about time.

Unfortunately, other than their albums, I know diddlysquat about the Zep, so somebody else is going to have to answer the Swan Song question.

God of Thunder 01-17-2004 01:56 PM

I hate it when I know something, but not off the top of my head.

I've read Jimmy Page's book "Hammer of the Gods" and I think Swan Song was started about 1976, but I don't recall what it's original name was.

I'm in the same spot on this one. It was definitly started in or prior to 1976 though, I was just listening to Presence and I noticed it on there and Presence is from 76'.

God of Thunder 01-17-2004 07:59 PM

Well then I'm out.

rideough 01-18-2004 06:04 AM

nope, it was 74 but i won't tell the original name until tomorrow!

I have quite a few of their albums on vinyl, but have never replaced them on CD. Some of their old tune's were way out there. I remember one called "She's as beautiful as a foot"
I saw them in concert with Heart, Cheap Trick, UFO, and Firefall in the Gator Bowl. They had a huge Godzilla behind the drummer that shot lazers out of it's eyes during Godzilla.
I have no idea on the Zep question either!

perripken 01-19-2004 07:46 AM

rideough, we need a new question....

Yes, we do. I know next to nothing about Zep... sorry

perripken 01-19-2004 04:03 PM

Well.... I guess someone has to keep this thing moving along....
What band was Dave Mustaine a member of before Megadeth?

Tophat665 01-19-2004 04:45 PM

Metallica!!!

rideough 01-20-2004 03:03 AM

Swan Song was gonna be called Slut Records>

perripken 01-20-2004 12:43 PM

Your question Tophat!

perripken 01-21-2004 06:58 AM

still waiting for a question Tophat....

tritium 01-21-2004 12:07 PM

I just PM'd Tophat.

perripken 01-21-2004 02:06 PM

Thanks tritium!

tritium 01-21-2004 06:59 PM

Not a problem.

perripken 01-21-2004 08:05 PM

I move we let the first taker ask a question to move this along...
Somebody please ask a trivia question.

Sion 01-21-2004 11:59 PM

what late great blues guitarist made his major label debut on David Bowie's Lets Dance album?

high_way 01-22-2004 12:05 AM

muddy waters....

rideough 01-22-2004 03:10 AM

Stevie Ray Vaughan

God of Thunder 01-22-2004 06:06 AM

The only guitarist I know that was on "Let's Dance" was Nile Rogers and he's not dead.

I'm stumped

Tophat665 01-22-2004 09:13 AM

First off, sorry about missing the question. My cable's been iffy for a couple of days, and I just got Tritium's PM today.

Not that it matters, but I am almost 100% certain that rideough is right on SRV. His guitar work on Cat People makes that song.

Sion 01-22-2004 10:06 AM

rideough is correct

Man, now I have to go find that album and listen to it again.

rideough 01-23-2004 03:23 AM

OK...

Who played drums on the Beatles song"Back in the U.S.S.R. ?

It wasn't Ringo......

God of Thunder 01-23-2004 05:13 AM

I think it was Paul. He took over when Ringo "quit" during those sessions.

rideough 01-24-2004 05:01 AM

yep

your question!

People make fun of Meg White's drumming but they all forget how much Ringo sucked.

God of Thunder 01-24-2004 06:55 AM

Watch it with the Ringo sucks stuff in here. A lot of Beatle fans around this board.

This is a trivia thread not an opinion thread.

OK, heres another real name question.

He was born Vincent Damon Furnier, who do we know him as now?

God of Thunder 01-24-2004 06:56 AM

edit: I hit quote instead of edit.

I will add a hint in here instead.

He was born in 1948

Well said my music trivia co-moderator, People, if we want to bash musicians, let's start another thread! I'm not particularly a fan of rap music, but I would not air it out in here! Thanks GOT!

Man... what happened there?
