Bachman Turner Overdrive? (If that's wrong I have another guess.)
|
Good job Tophat! The floor is yours! I will be out of town for a few days, so I won't be checking in as often.
Hey God of Thunder, congrats on the new addition! |
Since it's the holiday's and people are out of town, I'm extending the time limit to post a new question to tophat for the end of monday Jan. 5. If nothing is posted by then, I'm extending an invitation to someone new to the forum to post a question.
Once again, congrats to GOT! |
Dweezil and Ahmet Zappa covered what Brittany Spears song for the soundtrack of what (godawful) movie?

The only way I'll be able to participate in the near future is if the question has to do with sesame street or blues clues or something like that. |
Baby One More Time, and Read to Rumble was the movie
That was a horrible movie. BTW, I loathe Speakers too. :) |

edit: The sick thing is, they lived just around the corner too. I guess that goes to show that most auto accident occur within 10 miles of the home... edit2: More bragging. I know Phil Walden, and, yes, he is as cokehead. |
Hey tritium, we need a question. By the way, I don't know if this was mentioned but, the reason the Allman Bros album was named "Eat a Peach" was because it was a peach truck that Duane crashed with. (or so the story goes)
|
I think Snopes lists that as a urban legend, but it's a cool story anyways.
|
The isotopic one has it! Tritium, your question.
|
The sleepy town of Macon, Georgia has been the launching point for several other national and international acts other than the Allman Brothers.
Can you name the three internationally known black musicians to start out in Macon? |
Did I stump you guys? It's easier than you think.
|
umm
lenny kravits michael jackson (he started out black) ray charles they are about the only 3 black muscians i can think of at the moment |
Well, I don't know the answers, but I know that Jackson is from Gary, Indiana.
|
The question is officially a stumper tritium. Please give us the answer(s) and under the guidelines of the music trivia thread, give us an easier question.
|
Little Richard, Otis Redding and James Brown
www.gamusichall.com Anyway...... A character from the 1960s movie Barbarella became the name for which popular band of the 1980s? Bonus: Can you name the track through which the band paid tribute to this movie? (answer: Electric Barbarella) Bonus 2: Can you name the leading actress of the movie? (answer: Jane Fonda) |

I can't believe someone hasn't answered so far...
The evil character in the movie Barbarella was of course Durand Durand The band changed it to Duran Duran. OK, staying with the theme, when guitarist Andy Taylor left the group, he was replaced by Warren Cuccurullo. What group was Warren formerly with? |
Interesetingly enough, Duran Duran's first gig was in a club called Barbarella.
Can I buzz in with the answer? You followed my train of thought... or wait ... maybe I followed your's. I might wait considering my questions haven't gone over so well -- could be I'm out in left field with my music knowledge or... I might be missing my marbles ... Strange how one persons can lose them so frequently... :D |
Warren Cucarullo? Kinda young, kinda Wow!
Mothers of Invention, no? |

If Tritium can't come up with an answer, I will provide a hint. |
GOT - I know for sure that Warren Cuccurullo played in one or another of Frank Zappa's backing bands.
|
The band was Missing Persons. I'm fairly certain that I'm correct...

Andy Warhol conceived the cover art for which Rolling Stones' album? (difficulty: easy)

Hey all, totally new to the thread. Looks like there's a ton of tricky questions in here. I believe the answer to tritium's question is "Love You Live"

I was thinking of Stickey Fingers, but Love You Live is correct too. Good work! You're up!
|
cool.
hmmmm...... lets see... You'll have to forgive me if this was already covered. I haven't gone over the whole thread yet. How about: Who did John Paul Jones play bass for at their free concert in Hyde Park, London in 1974? |
Hey sherpahigh, welcome to the thread....
I have pretty much followed and monitered the thread along with God of Thunder since I started it, and that question hasn't been asked. I like it, but don't know it! |
Thanks, for the welcome. I probably won't be able to get a whole lot of the questions but I love to learn about music stuff I don't know.
Anyway, let me know if I need to give out a hint or as an easier question. I only happen to know the answer because I was reading up on some Zep facts online the other day. |

As for the current question... A free concert in Hyde Park eh? hmmmmm...(scratches chin) My guess is The Stones. /goes off to look it up because it is bugging me. |
Wasn't the Stones.
There was another "guest" on stage with J.P. Jones. He went by "Dave Gilmour". |
Wow, I hope your clue wasn't too good, but is it the obvious?
Pink Floyd? |
heh heh... Nope, not the obvious.
J.P. Jones and Gilmour were playing with someone that was a "noted" influence on Led Zeppelin. |
