New Group -- THE POSTAL SERVICE --

http://www.google.com/search?q=%2Bth...&start=10&sa=N

That's a good search to some of the groups reviews.

Hard to classify this group into a musical genre. Basically it's unlike anything I've heard. I've been listening to the album for the past 2 days and am amazed. They're a new group, their first album "Give Up" was released Feb, 18, 2003. If anyone has listened to them let me know what you think.... Anyone else who has an open mind to music, click the link above and read some of their review. If you get a chance listen to one of the songs from their album, I recommend The District Sleeps Alone that was the first song I heard that hooked me in. I believe it's one of those bands that you'll either love or hate. I loved it.

looks interesting. i'll try to download something from KaZaA Lite.

y2ktenchi 04-26-2003 10:11 PM

Postal Service are sweet! I was just listening to this again tonight.

Ambition 04-28-2003 07:52 PM

Cool, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's heard of them.

y2ktenchi 04-28-2003 07:54 PM

Have you heard Dntel "Life is full of possibilities"? It's the main project for one of the main guys in Postal Service. Pretty similar musically. Maybe a little mellower.

World's King 04-29-2003 01:28 AM

Do they shoot people?

Infinite Hybrid 04-29-2003 08:00 PM

I just heard about that recently. They are really good. Haven't bought the cd yet, but I may soon.

PulpMind 05-02-2003 02:33 AM

yea yea to the postal service.... yet, I find it very strange that they are the headlining act over CEX on the tour.
So if you catch them playing (and it's not sold out) - be prepared for Cex to completely blow PS out of the water... not that the two groups compare at all... but still....
/end ramble

Wow, actually found a few people who have heard of The Postal Service. I bought their CD about a week ago, haven't stopped listening to it since.

The Postal Service

My friend introduced me to this group. The sound is funky as hell but it sure is catchy. I don't even know how to describe the music. I highly recommend downloading a few songs to see what you think. I'd go with The District Sleeps Alone Tonight, Nothing Better, Such Great Heights, and Sleeping In. Even my friend who is only into rap like DMX loves them. I highly recommend taking a listen! Lemme know what you think.

pornisbadforyou 05-04-2003 09:00 PM

I've been into these guys for a while.. and I love it. It's totally poppy and catchy.

I've heard people describe it as "emo-tronic", which I find pretty humorous.

It's the guy from Dntel and the guy from Death Cab For Cutie.. I got to see them live a few weeks ago in DC and was very impressed by their live show as well. They are getting big!

emopwr 05-05-2003 03:24 AM

Yeah! TPS rocks!! Really chill stuff to listen to. If you like tps, maybe check out a band called 'the faint'. kind of the same synth-poppy sound. well sorta, but not really. haha

Sparky 05-05-2003 01:21 PM

I got the CD about a week ago, a friend recommended it. Great CD, I haven't stopped listening to it since.

Skettios 05-07-2003 04:52 PM

The Faint = Postal Service?

Are you on drugs Emo? and why aren't you sharing?

The Postal Service cd is really good. It's like sugar coated pop music crack. You listen to it and want some more, and feel let down when songs are over. As for bands that sound like them, nobody really does, that's what makes them so great.

Ambition 05-07-2003 10:45 PM

Already had a thread on them...

http://tfproject.org/tfp/showthread....&threadid=2665

SPLEEN EDIT = Ye tell, and ye recieve. Merged. Would have done it sooner, but I didn't realize there were two threads. :)

Skettios 05-17-2003 09:54 PM

Um yeah Ambition, it was this thread buddy.

I've actually clicked the link and read the whole goddamn thing again. And Emo, I was wrong, I just saw the faint and there are definite similarities.

Uuudar 05-18-2003 01:23 PM

I threw up a thread on them a month or so ago. They are great. You can just listen to the album over and over again. My two older sisters said they remind them of Depesche Mode.

Infinite Hybrid 05-20-2003 09:13 PM

Just heard of them about a month ago, they are really good and they sound so different from anything else that I know of (my music knowledge is kinda limited, I'll admit that). I just bought the cd tonight. *Thumbs up*

otefsu11 05-20-2003 10:06 PM

hmm.. they're a lot like Death Cab in that i like only one or two tracks by them. The District Sleeps Alone Tonight is really nice, as is Nothing Better. the rest of the tracks, though, put me right to sleep.. someone i know compared them to Semisonic gone electro, and i agree. Sleeping In has some of the corniest lyrics i've ever heard.

mr.neat 05-20-2003 10:53 PM

I saw them in denver about a month ago. It was genius. I've been a death cab fan for a long time, listening to "the photo" album right now in fact.

emopwr 05-21-2003 07:20 PM

Skettios: Well they don't sound EXACTLY the same, but theres lots of synth sounds in them both. hehe i dunno.

Shadow_fire 01-28-2007 10:08 AM

Me and a friend of mine decided that this group's genre is to be described as Death Cab for Techno...yup...Good band though, I personally love the whole album, but The District Sleeps Alone Tonight is by far my fav song from the album.

FoolThemAll 01-29-2007 08:11 AM

They're okay, I agree with otefsu11, except that I'm a bigger Death Cab fan than he is. Also, "This Place is a Prison" is kinda cool.

Iron & Wine improved "Such Great Heights" by about tenfold.
