Blues travellars - a man can't dance amazing if you haven't heard it almost makes you want to quit playing

I still get chills up and down my spine when I hear the guitar solo in "Queen of Spades" by Styx, I'm not sure if it's James Young or Tommy Shaw playing it, but it's awesome!

So many good choices, but no mention of the Allman Brothers?

Shyla Loral 09-13-2003 08:36 AM

Nugent, the hella long version of "Stranglehold" is pretty damn good. Yay!

Man, it's funny I came back to the forum after driving today and heard Allman Brothers "Statesboro Blues" on the radio, and thought, I have to put that one down in the forum. The slide guitar in that song is awesome!

Rush - Freewill, simply mind blowing. That or Working Man...

Flame away...

Gollum 09-14-2003 03:38 PM

Call me crazy but I'm quite fond of the solo in Aerosmith's "Amazing"

The Stairway To Heaven solo on How The West Was Won is my fave

lions20 09-15-2003 06:06 AM

That is a great solo but you should really check out the Stairway solo on Song Remains the Same (the live album).

warrrreagl 09-15-2003 07:19 AM

George Harrison on "Something."

I cannot believe no one mentioned the guitar work from the movie Crossroads. I believe Joe Satriani played both sides of the duel, and he played the devil's servant in the movie. Speaking of the devil, I know it is fiddle music, but for solos Charlie Daniels Devil went down to Georgia is great.

Great guitar work in the movie. The guitar duel was performed by four different guitarists; Steve Vai, Ry Cooder, Bill Kanengiser (classical), and Arlen Roth.

Steve Vai played the devil's servant.

Sorry, I really blew it on the guitar work for the movie, but I do remember the guitar playing.
