I know some of the people who like rap have something against Eminem...But read this track he wrote...It's back from 96.

I think Eminem is one of the best rappers because he isn't rappin about how much money he's got and all this shit about bling bling.

He just has a different flow.

No Eminem isn't rapping about his bling bling, he's rapping about killing his ex wife and his mother, which is just as pathetic as rapping about your bling bling or whatever. In my opinion all rap is horrible. It's all fast talking. Anyone could be a rapper.

does anyone know what the deal is with the track WEGO from his album infinite? The lyrics for it are nowhere and its dissing eminem :o

I know I am gonna be hearing alot of people say how they dislike Eminem...But I am asking Hip Hop fans that do not even like Eminem to give thier opinion on the lyrics of this track.

DownwardSpiral- try free-style rapping in front of people, even just a friend. It's not that easy. In fact it's pretty hard to write a rap-type song, period. Now angsty mope-rock, there's some easy song writing. :D

Don't get me wrong, rap isn't exactly art, it's more a talent like juggling. Eminem has some interesting ideas behind the hype and the marketing. In fact he's said on numerous occasions, like this song, that there's nothing really genuine being presented, only glitz and jokes-

Your namesake ( i assume ), the song Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails, would be slow talking, In fact the whole album is a) screaming, b) speaking slowly, or c) a lil bit o' both. Instead of venting the rage he feels at the people in his life, Trent Reznor focuses on his own degradation, self-destruction, and desire for annihilation.

He also says outrageous and potentially harmful things
All i'm trying to say, i believe, is don't bring the hate because you can't relate. Your opinions are your own to have, I just wanna offer some perspective. Personally, I like both of the above bands/artists. They have their own style and sound, and I respect their ability to reach people.

I'm an emcee myself (what you guys call "rappers") Eminem is very overrated. Sure to people that don't even listen to hip-hop he's something "different" and "original" and special but to a real hip-hop head they know none of those are true. Listen to Masta Ace, Kool Keith, Cage/Necro, etc. and you'll see where all of Eminem's style comes from.

Don't let your ignorance of rap confuse you. Do you know how many other rappers fit that exact description? Ever hear of Talib Kweli? Pharoahe Monch? Binary Star? Clokworx? J-Live? etc. All of them don't rap about money or clothes or women and all of them have a different flow you probably aren't used to hearing. This is because they are real emcees...not any of that bullshit sorry excuse for rhymin you see on T.V. If you like it then research the fuckin underground scene. It's full of emcees like that who do it for the art and not for the cash & women. Is Eminem good and talented? Yes....he's better than quite a few you'll hear even out of the real emcee's but not anymore. When he made Infinite he wasn't writin all the bullshit he writes now...like raping his mother, and killing his wife (that shit is WACK period). This is why he's overrated as fuck now. Everyone thinks he's the best rapper ever and none of them know shit. Thats a real slap in the face to all the people who rhyme just as well and better who don't have the right connections to get themselves on. See people tend to judge talent by record sales which don't mean shit. If you really knew how the record industry worked you'd know why they were making millions and others aren't given the time of day.

I will be honest, I use to keep up with Hip Hop all the time...But there is so many shitty MC's out now it's pathetic..There are only a few MC's that I listen too...And yes I have heard of most of those MC's you listed.

Damn man...Relax alittle, I am into the underground sound of Hip Hop...It blows away the main stream shit. Me saying that I think Eminem is one of the best MC's does not mean I know nothing...I like his style And what he ryhmes about..I have never liked any of his hit singles that get airplay.

I am more into the Drum N Bass/Jungle scene now...I don't keep up with Hip Hop like I use too...But still listen and appreciate it.

Even after I read that you pretty much told me that I don't know shit about Hip Hop because I listen to Eminem and other rappers that were at thier best in the Underground.

I am still gonna say that I respect people like you who appreciate rap for what it is...it's not about money or fame..It's about doing something that you have a passion for...It's ashame what money has done to alot of MC's.

I am on the same page as you, Your just deeper into it than I am.

please. Just because it's underground doesn't make it worth listening to. Most of it is underground because it belongs there. Buried. I think people judge talent by what moves them, they judge mainstream by what makes them dance and sing along.

The way art (if you're going to use the term), in general, works is people make something new or interesting, sell a lot of it, then do more of the same as the new generation tries to improve or change the prevailing genres.

In terms of rap, the sound from say, the Sugarhill Gang, evolves into Run DMC and Grand Master Flash, who were then replaced by groups like 2 Live Crew, NWA, and (yes) Salt-n-Pepa. the art becomes edgier, more confrontational, more realilistic, softer, more appealing, watered down.

What's underground, becomes mainstream, and a new genre/style emerges as underground. And not everyone is going to make millions or sell millions, because the market cannot support the volume. If people "do it for the art and not for the cash & women" then why would they care about what's mainstream..

Yeah Eminem is a good rapper, I don't real care for his image, and I doubt he does either, his freestyles are really good too

IC3- His best stuff is his earlier stuff. I *highly* recommend finding his EP on p2p and downloading it. The tracks he raps on are amazing. Its great stuff.

Eminem is truly a great artist. I don't care what people say. He's got an image, he has a talent, he's got it made.

Man I didn't expect to run into a real hip-hop head here. My humblest apologies if I offended you IC3. Hip-hop is indeed my life. The only reason I might be more into it than you is because I'm an emcee as well and I do my own work and I know how hard it is to gain a following when you kick real rhyms. You wouldn't happen to emcee too would ya? If so thats fuckin awesome man. I too listen to all the emcees you've mentioned and Wu-Tang and The Roots are my two favorite hip-hop crews. See a person who listens to the hip-hop I like to listen to is such a rare find these days so I usually just assume that they don't and all they listen to is crap and they know absolute jack about it. Most of the time I'm correct and I'm like well he's really good and if you like him you'll probably like "so and so" and most times they do and start checkin em out. So I stand corrected here and mature enough to admitt my ignorance and the fact that I may have been an asshole. If ya wanna know some of the guys I listen to hit me up on the IM sometime. I think it's in my profile but if it's not you can just send me a private message n I'll let ya know and see if you listen to em or not. I agree a lot of them suck even in the underground but I don't pay them attention it's the ones that are good that are unknown whose situation vex's me. Yes not all underground is good for example Cash Money were underground just a few years ago. But anyways get at me yo. I also check out underground artists one www.ughh.com Cool forums n what not but most people just go to check out the singles section and buy CD's from there. It's got a lot of good stuff (and a lotta bad haha)

Don't apoligize, I feel the same way about people who think they know what real hip hop is..But they really don't.

I do not MC, But my cousin out in Kitchener Produces his own shit..He opened for Raekwon awhile back.

He writes ryhmes and one of his boys makes the beats and ryhmes alittle also...They go by the name of Low Budget.

I do sometimes scribble down shit that pops into my head, But It's nothing special...Actually just the other night I actually made progress..I usually get a couple lines down then give up. But the other night I just kept going, I am not even sure if I like it yet..But it's the furthest I have ever gotten writing ryhmes down on paper.

Since you are actually in the game doin your own thing..I may PM you what I got on paper just to get your opinion...But remember, It's the first time I have ever put something together...So just be straight up with me on what you think about it.

I use to be all about the West Coast back in the 90's..When Snoop & Dre were together on Snoops Doggystyle & Dre's The Chronic..Those 2 albums are Classics in my books...But the West Coast sound started to change, It seemed like it lost that Laid back groovy Funky sound.

I started checkin out the sound that was coming out of the East and was actually very impressed with it...I liked it cause it was more of an East Coast Stomp kind of sound...Hard Hitting beats, with MC's keeping shit real...I forget what my first album was that I bought that was coming out of the East Coast..Think it might have been The Wu's 36 Chambers..That's also a classic.

I don't like much from the south...It seems like alot of the Money Hungry MC's are from the south.

Music is like sports..ya the money is good, But if you love what you do then the money shouldn't matter...Do for the love you have for the music not the money.

Sounds groovy to me man. I would conider those albums classic too. Some of the south is good but not all of it. I like Outkast :D Feel free man I'll give you an honest opinion and if you need help I'm down. I've taught emcees before and they started to get really good one even beat me in a battle once. I write all different kinds a rhymes so if you feel a particular style I can try and work that. Mine consists of a lotta vocab, metaphores, and multi's. If ya want I'll PM you some a my rhymes. I don't have the tools needed to record anymore though :( And angelfire shut down my page without my knowledge so now I have NO audio's online anymore as well :(. That's what I have noticed with what I have got so far..i need to expand my Vocab more...That's what I am working on right now, trying to switch things around to use more words.

Eminem is good, but so are a lot of rappers out there. Atmosphere and Anticon are my favorites. Deltron 3030 (more hip/hop) is also really cool. I cant stand rappers like Ludacris and all them but there is good stuff out there, you just gotta find it.

I think Eminem is a great writer and his songs are very catchy, and I also applaud him for taking himself to the top of the pop world..but I do not know if I would consider him a musician, so to speak :D

Eminem has some insane lyrics no doubt. He's not my favorite but I'll admit he's good. No one mentioned Jedi Mind Tricks, so I'll suggest you should DL a few of their songs, see how you like em.

Just to name a few: I Against I, Muerte, Nada Cambia, Sacrifice, Trinity, The Executioner's Dream. DL some of those, or others that seem to interest you and see how you like em. :D

I'm not known to like hip hop/rap that much, but I actually like Eminem. I don't agree with a lot of his lyrics though. ;)

I think he's good and I've actually bought his albums. I like the "feelings" in it.

Take, for example, "Kim". The feeling I get from it is that he's desperate and that he loves her and that he can't handle that shit anymore.

Oh, and the big plus is that you actually hear what he sings (raps) and that you can sing along. :)

That's something that has always baffled me...Everybody I talk to that doesn't like rap says they can't understand what they are saying...If I buy a CD as soon as I pop it in..I can understand everything, It just takes a little time before I can actually remember the lyrics and Say them myself.

Rap involves rhythem. dont't just judge Eminem for his pop songs(my name is/without me), listen to some of his mixtape songs and songs with meaning like "The Way I Am" or "Bump Heads"


Pop rappers like "new" 50 Cent, Nelly, P.Diddy and St Lunatics should be dissed because, they are rappers who just rhyme words togather.

I personally like his track I'm a Soldier..He spits it so...Hard, I can't really explain it..But I love how he raps on that track.
