I'm getting back into metal
Now, I know there have been a lot of "name your favorite metal bands" threads, but I'm looking for something more acute. I'm really enjoying goth rock/death metal right now.. especially with the female singers....
Lacuna Coil L'ame Immortelle Theatre of Tragedy (early) I'm looking for a few more with the same sound. None of that screaming or arena rock stuff, just good old melodic guitar metal and passionate vocals. Let's hear it. |
Sinergy
Arch Angel (later material) Both are classic metal but w/female vocals. |
I've been into Lacuna Coil for a coupla years now.... Evanesence copied them and did well (Lacuna Coil are Italian).

Cradle of Filth
Burzum Emperor Opeth Slayer Berzerker Dimmu Borgir |
KIDNEYTHIEVES
Have a listen to these songs by them: Dyskrasia (heavy), Taxicab Mesiah (heavy) or the soft and beautiful Serene Dream. www.kidneythieves.com I believe has legal downloads of a couple of their songs. |
i like In Flames, though there's a bit of screaming, there's lots of melody. very tight band

Heres a list of stuff I'm currently stuck on. Lots o heavy stuff. Im on a death/goth kick right now.
Concrete Blonde (Female Singer) Sisters Of Mercy Type O Negative Dimmu Borgir Emperor Nile Estatic Fear Leaether Strip Marduk My Dying Bride Peccatum (Female Singer) Satyricon Stahlhammer Theatre Of Tragedy Throne Of Ahaz |
Give earlier Nightwish a try (ie: Anglels Fall First). They have a female lead vocalist, with classical opera training. They're dominant style is power-metal, so I am not sure if their sound quite falls in line with the bands you mentioned, but it is very passionate, and very beautiful (which is unusual for metal in general :D).
I think you might like this. |
Check out Lullacry.

as far a good goth, female singers, you might be interested in checking out Wedding Party (now unfortunatly defunct)

Older Metallica
Megadeth Mötorhead Sepultura Anthrax Coal Chamber Probably not what you're looking for, but when I'm looking for a hard edged metal song that I can headbang to, I usually turn to one of these bands. |
