Tori Amos appruciation(sp?) thread
I'm just sitting here, listening to her, and thought to myself: "Self, why don't you put up a Tori thread?." So I did. Why? Who knows. I like her, and I'd like to see who else here does. It's 2:45 am, and my brain stopped functioning about an hour ago. Just so's you all know.
All hail goddess Tori.

In addition to the album she released this winter, Tori is touring this fall. I'm not sure on the exact dates, but I actually learned about it because I subscribe to Neil Gaiman's blog. For those who may be unfamiliar with his work, Gaiman is a wonderful fantasy and occasionally science fiction writer who is a longtime fan of Tori Amos's. The two are friends; she wrote an introduction to one of his books, and he's the "Neil" mentioned in a lot of her songs. Example: the line "If you need me, me and Neil'll be/hanging out with the Dream King" is a reference to his brilliant Sandman series.
*looks up* Sorry about making this into a Neil Gaiman appreciation thread I really do admire Tori, though. Her cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is the best thing ever. I'm waiting for her to cover "Smooth Criminal."

Did you know they're going to be making a "Constantine" movie? And one about Death? Only problem with constantine....rumor has it that Keanu Reaves is playing him. Now, keanu isn't a horrible actor (hey, it's possible), but he definitely does NOT fit the role of John Constantine, magician of London.
And don't worry about the Tori- Gaiman switch, its hard to mention one without the other.

:-D tori is great. i've had 2 offers to go to her concert but a) i had a class to attend and i'm kind of one of those anal retentive perfect attendance people... b) i had work the next day and wouldn't get back in time for the roadtrip..... she's amazing. some of her songs are really personal to me. especially from the little earthquakes album

she is touring right now. in fact Ben Folds is currently on tour with her. Something I wish I could see. I used to be a big Tori fan and still support her. My favorite cd of hers is the 1st one.
One of my favorite concert exper. is seeing her front row right in front of her. almost as if she was singing to my friends and I. it was great. Like I said, I still enjoy listening to her and I do buy her albums. But for some reason or another some of her fans really bother me these days. I'm a guy and well, the female fans get all pissy with me when I say I like her music. Makes me feel very uncomfortable now. oh well... I'll still contiune to enjoy her music. |

Tori was playing last Friday at the PNC Arts Center, but I had to fly to Vancouver on business so I couldn't go. I have seen her a few times and she is amazing live. She has incredible control over the audience. Her intensity is inspiring and I felt like I understood her more after seeing her live. (she is a tad whacky)
