Mogwai!
Mogwai Fans, unite! Post your favorite song, when you started listening, any other details.
I've been a fan for a good 2-3 years now, and my favorite song has got to be "My Father, My King" but "Like Herod" comes in a close 2nd. "Ex-Cowboy" is awesome too.

I've only been listening to them for less than a month, but they've made a very powerful impression on me. This is exactly the kind of music I'm starting to like.
My favorite album so far is definitely Young Team, with Like Herod being the favorite song.

OK, i didn't see this thread before, after posting my own thread here
anyway, recently got Rock Action and it's quickly become my most played album with a perfect circle, muse and something for kate. Anyway, key songs on that for me are sine wave take me somwhere nice you don't know jesus 2 rights make 1 wrong on other albums: (Happy) ratts of the capital, haunted by a freak (CODY) chritsmas steps, waltz for aidan, cody (YT) mogwai fear satan, tracy, r u still in 2 it anyways, on another note, could someone please recommend some more similar bands to Mogwai? i know about sigur ros and godspeed you black emperor and have most of their stuff as well. I am currently downloading some stuff from a group called tortoise and tis pretty cool, but any other recomendations would be appreciated. Although i am swimming in new music atm, although i guess you can never have enough good tunes cheers |

Got turned onto Mogwai a little less than a year ago. I was majorly upset when I missed their stop off in Philly.
My Father My Kind is probably my favorite song too. I'm wondering though, if I'm the only one who REALLY REALLY likes their newest, Happy Songs for Happy People. Almost every one of those songs is danger of taking over my top spot at any time. Whoa, missed the question about recommendations. Tortoise is a must under any circumstances. TNT is a top 5 album for me; simply a masterpiece. Also, if you like Godspeed, check out A Sliver Mt. Zion. I'm pretty sure that they share some of the same members. Happy Songs for Happy People is an EXCELLENT album. Bought it and its one of the few albums I can listen from start->finish without skipping a single track.

Fav Mogwai song: "May Nothing But Happiness Come Through Your Door", off of the "Come On Die Young" album.
I also very much like "Take Me Somewhere Nice", off of the "Rock Action" album. I recommend earplugs if any of you wish to go see them live. This goes double for Godspeed You! Black Emperor. These fuckers are LOUD! Aside from the house speaker system of the venue they play at, they also fill half the stage with their own speakers. Devastatingly awesome. Check out the following bands, which are on the same label as Godspeed (Constellation Records): - Hangedup (cello and drum power combo, both original members of Godspeed) - Exhaust (urban, moody prog rock; check out the song "Metro Mile End") - Do Make Say Think (Toronto band, now broken up; check out the album "& Yet & Yet" - Fly Pan Am (not for everyone; highly experimental)

Heh, i was watching a repeat of sex and the city (which get played after the new series here in Australia) and they played Take Me Somewhere Nice for the last 30-40 seconds of shots as backing music. Was quite suprising, nice touch though
