Ipod Accessories

So, I just plinked down a big fat wad of cash for a 30 gig ipod. I am not usually such a must have top-of-the-line guy, but let myself splurge on this deal. I needed a pick me up as the new job outlook went sour and I felt I needed to reward myself for at least trying to duke it out in the scary job markets even though I have a job. Getting off track here....

What this thread is supposed to be about is Ipod Accessories. Who has what? What would you guys recommend? I am mostly intersted in getting a usuable case for it, but would love to hear about any of the accesories.

I love my iPod. It makes me feel powerful.
I just carry mine around in a black pouch to keep it from scratching... however, I do wish I could afford some snazzy accessories... like the FM tuner...
moreso really, I'm waiting for the iPod DJ to come out - an iPod witht he ability to pitch adjust and preview/cue songs... fucking beautiful...

Congratulations on your 30 GB iPod. I can tell you that it has changed the way I listen to music (for the better). With this many songs on here (I have 3600 right now) and the iPod on random, I'm bound to hear a lot of stuff that I haven't given a full listen to previously.

Now, for accessories. As txd mentioned, XtremeMac has some great stuff. I used to have a 20GB so I bought many of their previous accessories, such as the car charger and the case. Their new case looks pretty good, but check out this one:

PodPaq

I think that one looks pretty cool also.

If you drive with the iPod, you'll want some way to listen to it in your car. If your car radio doesn't have an auxiliary input, you'll need either a cassette adapter (although you can buy these anywhere) or something like the iTrip which will let you connect to your car radio through FM. The new model isn't out yet, but the original model got very good reviews.

Hope this helps. Good luck and enjoy your iPod! (And hang in there.)

You will want to spend some time over at ipodlounge.com , and especially the forums. This is the main board for iPods, and you will get a lot of good information there.

Personally, I got the Belkin car plug adaptor, which I use with a tape adaptor, and I got a Tivoli PAL portable radio to plug it in for travel listening.

What's the difference between the 10gig, 15, and 30gig models aside from memory? PM me if you know about this please...

eyeronic, I'll PM you but this info might be useful for other people, so....

The real difference between the three is not memory, but hard drive space (but that's probably what you meant). The other main difference is the price. Other than that, the only differences are:

The 30 GB weighs a bit more (6.2 ounces instead of 5.6 ounces) and it's a little wider than the 10 or the 15 (which posess the same dimensions).

I believe the 10 GB doesn't come with the carrying case, dock or the remote. The carrying case is pretty crappy, and I don't use the remote. However, the dock is relatively essential as it has an "audio line out" jack for connecting to external speakers or a stereo system - which produces amazing sound (as opposed to connecting it through the headphone jack, which stinks).

That's it! Any other questions? Me love iPod.
