Most awesome festival line up
I went to the monsters of rock festival at castle donnington around 91/92 and the line up that day started with the Black crowes then Motley crue followed by Queensryche then Mettalica and as if that wasnt enough AC/DC headlined. I didnt realise it at the time but that was a magical line-up and the best I have ever seen. Can anyone beat that?

I never went to a full-scale festival a la Donnington or Coachella, but the original Lollapaloozas, 1991-95 (I didn't go in '96 or '97), were pretty great. If I had to pick one year, 1995 gets the nod: on two stages I saw Sonic Youth, Hole, Cypress Hill, Yo La Tengo, Sinead O'Connor, Beck, the Geraldine Fibbers, the Jesus Lizard, the Bosstones, Brainiac, Coolio, Sabalon Glitz, and probably a couple of others I can't remember. The fact that some of these bands would even play together, let alone that a major American tour would ever feature e.g. the Jesus Lizard on their main stage (not to mention other interesting picks: one year the Boredoms played the main stage, for god's sake), makes me sort of depressed about Lollapalooza's conservative new incarnation. |

I have been to a few small festivals with local bands and such, but the biggest I went to was actually Phish in the everglades for the millenium. 80,000 people, 1 band, three sets the first night, two on new years. For the last set, they went on stage just before midnight, and didn't leave the stage until sunrise! Best show I've ever been too. Not to mention, everyone was very considerate, not much trouble and NO trash left behind. They sent home the crew they had gathered for cleanup.
