Punk Music

Recentely I bought Rancid's "...and out come the Wolves" and AFI's "Very Proud of Ya". I must say that they are two of the greatest albums I have heard in the past months/years. So I was wondering if there were any other bands that were similar to that style, or if any of their other albums were like those two.
I wanted to know because I'm making a trip to Amoeba pretty soon, and if you live near L.A., San Fran, or Berkeley, you might know what that is, if not, it's been called one of the greatest record stores in the world. So ya, enough rambling.

Try out Social Distortion and if you like them, get some of Mike Ness' solo stuff.

Sorry, hit Submit too fast.

Also try Bad Religion, Pennywise, and maybe MxPx.

Thanks, I already listen to MxPx too, and have heard quite a bit of Bad Religion, maybe I'll have to try out Social Distortion.

Any particular Social Distortion album I should look for?
I quit downloading music and am trying to start a cd collection that will someday rival my dad's of ~1000 cds.

Bad Religion and Social Distortion are good matches for that style. You also might want to try some earlier Offspring (self-titled, Smash, or Ixnay on the Hombre).

As far as punk in general goes, the best bands I've ever heard have been the old-school punk bands, e.g. Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, et. al.

EDIT:

Oh yeah, and Fugazi.

Get Let's Go by Rancid, Life Won't Wait is also good. I really like the Bouncing Souls, they're very fun.

Yeah, I should have thought of them before. They seem like they'd be up your alley. Also, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Ten Foot Pole come to mind, perhaps Millencollin and Guttermouth as well.

Alright, well now the problem is not having enough money for all of this, I'll have to try Social Distortion first and maybe Bouncing Souls, thanks for all the advice.

The Impossibles - What a great, fun to listen to band. I thought they were my little secret for years...good call Maximus. Very different from Bad Relgion in the weightiness of the subject matter, but very listenable.

If you want a band that is a blend of both Social D (actually more along the lines of Ness's solo stuff) and Rancid... try Tiger Army.

Also... for just balls out punk thats has not reached the $$$ level of rancid, try the forgotten, the bodies, anything on TKO records... swigging utters, the beltones, reducers SF, and the vigilantes... all great bands... some have more exposure than others.

Another to add: The Independents

Think Misfits mixed with the Clash mixed with Madness (sans horns). Really cool reggae-ska guitar lines to go with their Misfits-style fun "horror rock"

Any particular albums from these bands? I went to Amoeba to check out prices and such and they have several albums for most of the bands listed here, as well as a bunch of compilation cds I might buy too.
Bouncing Souls: which album?
And I haven't heard the Misfits yet, maybe I'll get some of them too. And someone said Tiger Army's singer sounded like AFI's singer because they grew up and sang together or something of the like. Know anything about that?

Yeah... I know someone who likes both Tiger Army and AFI a lot, he says they've got similar styles.

As far as the Misfits, really anything by them is great. For the Independents, "Back from the Grave" is an outstanding album.

Oh, and another for Bad Religion and Pennywise. I like all BR stuff... I think Pennywise's best album is "Land of the Free?"
