Alt metal
any one suggest some highly original metal outfits I should check out. think along the lines of
botch meshuggah dillinger escape plan Isis will haven coalesce I'm not really interested in anything pretentious and whiny (autumn to ashes, skycamefalling, et al) |
opeth
soilwork in flames |
the melvins
tomahawk |
tomahawk are great. remind me alot of Jesus lizard, the greatest band ever.
|
Dimmu Borgir
Opeth killswitch Engage Lamb of God Old Mans Child Green Carnation Amon Amarth (shit, did i spell that right?) Anal Cunt (hilarity ensues) Shadows Fall (not really original, but damn good) |
Atreyu is pretty original, but may be too whiny for ya. Try some Otep, and if you don' t listen to Nothignface DO IT. They're hard as hell, but play in weird, fucvked up time signatures.... thier album Violence is in my top 5 albums of all time list.

Strapping Young Lad
anything Devin Townsend. |
I pretty much stopped listening to metal after Helmet went under. Anyone around these days that can compare?
|
Otep, Meshuggah and SYL I would agree with as being awesome alt metal bands.
The Strapping Young Lad/Meshuggah concert I went to rocked the fuck out of me. Meshuggah's pit was the weirdest, most original pit I've ever been in. As for Tomahawk...FUCK TOMAHAWK! I'm sorry, but did ANY of you see them when they toured with Tool? I wanted to throw my boot into that singers mouth. There's a song where I swear to god all he said was "WAGAWAGAWAGA!" As for other metal acts to enjoy, try Pigs of War or Deicide (both old-school death metal), both of which are currently making a come back. Saw them in concert together, great fucking show. |
"Anal Cunt (hilarity ensues)"
wasn't that GG Allins band before the Murder Junkies. G.G. Allin....(belch) now THERES a real treat for you. |
between the buried and me you would definitely like, very original
