Staind fans?

I always liked Staind quite a bit and always meant to buy Break the Cycle but never got around to it. But I bought 14 Shades of Gray today, and it kicks ass! I've heard some bad reviews saying its too depressing and repetitive, but I love depressing music, and Staind are deliciously dark. Repetitive?Well...........yeah, kinda, but when its this good, thats not a bad thing.

Who else likes Staind, and who else has the new album, and what do you think about it?

Man, I love The Stain, a punk band from around my area! They totally kick!

Oh, your asking about Staind, count me out on the liking bit. When you make music that ALL sounds the same, 'nuff said.

well i don't really care too much for the band itself, although my most of my friends like them, and i hear it quite a bit. I like their tribute to Layne tho, kinda sounds like AIC as well.

This band is one my favorites. They have moody and heartfelt lyrics that maybe reflect how the writer was feeling at the time. The lead singers voice is fantastic with a fresh new sound compared to most of the lead singers out there today. I don't currently own any of their CD's but they'd be the first I'd by along with some of my other favorites.

This coming from a punk fan, kind of like the pot calling the kettle black..

As for the issue at hand, Staind=meh

Staind used to be good with their first cd. No not Dysfunction like everyone thinks is their first. Tormented was their first cd and it was damn good, Dysfunction was pretty good, and it went straight to hell after that. i dont like staind at all anymore

Yeah, I don't really like Staind much anymore either. It really grabbed me back when I was about 16 or so. But now that I'm not so angsty, I usually just get tired of songs halfway through.

New CD, not so much. Last 2 CDs have gotten a lot of listening by myself and my wife (who usually prefers John Maher and Norah Jones.) Too mushy on the new one and that god awful tribute to Layne Staley is painful.

In fact a few years ago she was in the operating room and had been given the dope to put her to sleep, and she remembered the nurse asking if she wanted any music to listen to, and my wife asked the 50-something nurse if she had any Staind. They did not, but they did throw on an Alvin and the Chipmunks XMas CD.

Crazy

I DID like them, when I heard Dysfunction... but after realizing every song was about the same fucking thing, it got a little old. And then the Outside/Durst debacle... shit, nail in the coffin.

What happened to kids liking the kick you in the balls rock'n roll man? If I wanted to hear somebody bitch about their "awful childhood" and how mommy and daddy never bought them enough GI Joes, I'd turn it on the fucking Lifetime channel.

Well, it seems I've opened a floodgate for Staind naysayers. I suppose I do like them so much because I am young and full of angst and pain, so I relate to their music alot.

I'm also young (relatively) and full of angst andd pain, and thier music puts me to sleep. Don;t get me wrong... I loved Tormented and Dysfunction, and about 3/4 of Dysfunction, but this album... it's too happy. He writes a song about his kid, fer chrissakes! How is that depressing? It has this very after the storm feel... hope this doesn't burst your bubble, but if you really listen to the lyrics you'll find them quite life-affirming. You wanna get some serious down music, go get the new Cold CD.

staind is an interesting band. They started off with tormented which was good at the core. it was bad ass. but it got very repetitive. then they dropped dysfunktion which blew Tormented out of the water in my opinion. It had alot of variety. they kept switching up styles in the songs. then they did something unprecidented...well maybe not. they went back to thier roots and made a cd that was repetitive. (the first song on that cd is incredible though like them or not.) The only thing though that we repetivitve was the riffs and drum lines. Then 14 shades came out. i wasn't looking forward to it but i got it anyway...seeing what the old boys were up to. Not only were the guitar riffs all the same.... the lyrics were too sing song-y and rhymed, and it lacked a power balled such as 4 walls or that hidden track on dysfunktion. or even Epiphany (even though it wasn't up to par with the other 2). None the less, I can still feel staind kinda like i can't still feel KORN i know they have good stuff in them...it's just not comming out.
