The impact of losing Buddy Holly on the American music scene has to be enormous. He was truly coming into his own at the time of his death. I wonder if he would have been swallowed up by the British Invasion or would he have continued to define American rock during the 60s. I assume the latter.
The symbolism used in McLean's song is incredible. A good YouTube to post, almost educational for those who aren't aware of what is all being addressed in the lyrics.
