				Flogging Molly

Just wondering if anyone's ever heard of Flogging Molly. They're an Irish band, with a classic Irish sound that blends with heavy rock. Drunken Lullabies is one of their best ballads; it's featured in Tony Hawk 4 for the PS2.

Anyone else like em? What songs do you reccommend? |

They'll play forever live if you let them. Just caught them a few weeks back with Mighty Mighty Bosstones. What an outstanding show.

I don't know, I just happend to have 2 of their albums and some other songs appear on my harddrive after reading this thread

And really whats the big deal about them? I don't think thier stuff is that great. Now its not bad, I could take hearing them in the background at any drinking establishment, but really I don't think I'll ever just listen to them for the enjoyment.Oh well, maybe its just not my genre ![]() |

		 C'mon...

No one ever said they were underground. I really hate the people that say that a band was good only when no one heard of them... Except every other wannabe that says that every fucking day about the same band. You think if they were really underground you would have heard of them... They're from Ireland for Christ sake.

the point i was trying to make was that as soon as a band becomes "mainstream," they almost always sell out and change their sound to become rich and famous. i am a bit scorned by this, as it has happened to many of my once favorite bands. they all face a moral question, do we keep our sound, or become rich and famous like we've always wanted...?

actually, only the lead singer is from ireland, everyone over in Ireland has no clue who they are.

but, they rock my freaking world. "every dog has its day" and "if i ever leave this world alive" are just great. if it were possible, i would marry the entire band

If you like Flogging Molly check out some of these other Celtic Punk bands.

Black 47 The Pouges The Skels Ballydowse The Levellers The Cropdusters There is nothing like the combination of Irish folk music and hardcore. After all that's what it really is all about. If Metallica can do a cover of 'Whiskey in the Jar' then the real thing is where it's at. |

they are not skate core, if the only place you've heard em is tony hawk, then of course you find them background music... and they are not hardcore. they are a mix of hardcore/punk/irish folk.

haha, and they are super better than murphys. i went to the american fleadh (and irish festival) and flogging molly and black 47 and a few other bands were there, and it was the fecking best show i have ever been to.

got the albums, the t-shirt. now just to turn 21, and have them come to town.

underground or not, it's quality stuff, and they the lyrics hold their own, which can't be said for a lot of punk/neo-alternative, etc... getting the hard rock doesn't mean you have to listen to drivel in the words...and that's why i love em so. |

A good song is Salty Dog. Thier music style is an aquired taste, but oh so fun when you get into it.

Hella ya, Flogging Molly. My favorite song is Rebels of the Sacred Heart. I gotta say, their recorded stuff doesn't even rank against their concerts. For a long time their concert was the best I had ever been to. They drink soooooo much Guiness onstage.
