A request for gospel music
 

Looking for suggestions for some soulful, honest down-home gospel music. It should be warm and preferably sung sweet and joyously by an african-american lady and perhaps accompanied by a church choir. any suggestions, pointers or artists appreciated.

You might enjoy the works of Sallie Martin, Mahalia Jackson or Clara Ward amongst others.

Keep an eye out for anything labeled "Urban Contemporary Gospel" (or often times simply "Black Gospel") and you should find what you're looking for. Happy listening.

If you remember some of the lyrics you can try Googling them and seeing what comes up. It's worked for me before.
