Geez, I like so many bands, but Pink Floyd have to be my favorite by far.

Tool, Metallica, RATM, The Doors, and System of A Down are all at the top of the list also.

bundy 04-19-2003 07:05 AM

rolling stones and U2 off the top of my head.

but i'll definitely add to the list later on.

brandon11983 04-19-2003 07:12 AM

skycamefalling is tops for me. But they've broken up. I guess my fave of the moment would be Boys Night Out. Think of them as poppy punk killcore. They have a poppy punk sound, but their lyrics are rather grim. Their song "Victor Versus The Victim" is about the curb scene in American History X. I highly recommend.

Damnit, who put the Reset Form button so close to the Submit button? *bangs head on keyboard*

I'm typing all this out again because I'm nuts and I think people care what my opinion is. So pay attention, damnit!

I loaded all my favorites (too many to list) into winamp & hit Random. The winner is.... Ben Folds (with or without The Five).

There's a great range of talent used to produce a great range of music. Everything from happy-boppy-funny-bouncy tunes to sobbing-in-yer-beer-sad songs. Sometimes introspective, sometimes whimsical, frequently tongue-in-cheek. But always songs that make you feel and think.

I'll pick another winner another day.

TOOL!!!

Long time tool fan, OGT since 94 :P

As a band, they are searching. As individuals, they are searching. You can see a large transition from Ænima -> Lateralus in the way they examine aspects of life. In Ænima, they talk stinkfist, the desensitizing of human in modern day (granted heavy opinion expressed) and later turn into f^$k L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the cult religion scientology, and finish the album off discussing ‘My Third Eye; metaphysical. Lateralus picks up around Parabol(a) with heavy western philosophy and teachings that must have inspired Maynard and the band. Lyrics of "Recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing." into Lateralus "over thinking, over analyzing, separates the body from the mind" and into Reflection "and you will come to find, we are all one mind" shows an understanding of various aspects of western teachings, in a pursuit of personal advancement.

It’s music challenges you to think, to let go and realize what your capable of. That’s what I get out of Tool. It’s not a 3:40 song that has a catchy chorus and gets tons of play time to the point it becomes annoying to hear. Tool live, nothing like it. The Energy that Maynard exhibits is un-paralleled. Slow version of pushit, amazing. If you lack the patience, for Lateralus - listen track 1-7…then come back for the main course 9-12 which is just one song cut into tracks.
