Jay Reatard has been a very important part of my life. i remember times of long ago when my friends and I would sit on a rooftop drinking beer, listening to Jay Reatard or The Reatards, just having fun enjoying the world.

they found him dead in his apartment at the age of 29.

Definitely brought some intensity back to the rock/punk scene. Have you seen the videos of him punching out the kid that stepped on stage while he was playing. That was wild. He was a talented songwriter though and will be missed.
