I read this and thought "she's never 56" and then read your user name - as it ends 53, and it's 2009, I figure YOU'RE 56?
She's good looking, and writes and sings catchy songs - no shame in admitting to liking that.

I think she represents an anti-pop performer.
1) She can actually SING and PERFORM. 2) Has there been a singer that openly says "God" and "Gays" in the same sentence, with both words being used positively? 3) Her look is definately different from other major performers. 4) Her music (IMO) transcends any age group and doesn't just play to the teenyboppers. 5) She is sexuality... her music is deeply sexual, her look is sexual, she doesn't hold back. Unlike some performers who just "act" like it to appeal to a different audience, whether positive or negative. I like her, but her music is not something I'm interested in. Hypocritical? Not really, I can admit an artist is decent even if it not something thats heavy in my rotation. |

My opinion of Lady Gaga is captured well in this thread...and you should go there to watch the videos, as well: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/tilted-...-own-joke.html

I'm sure you do.
-- (it took me ages to re-find this picture... not sure if it was worth it) -- Lady Gaga is a witch -- "I don’t understand Lady Gaga, is she some sort of clown or something?" just some of the opinions of others in which I found amusing. I may not like her, (It would seem I don't "like" anybody since I don't consume music regularly; I usually pick an artist, year or genre, and seek to complete an anthology... so, I'm really unplugged from whatever music culture pervades the radio and your MTV's) but ...[stalls]... I don't have an opinion either way. I'll give you this: when I saw her "love game" music video, while I thought it was ridiculous and not very clever innuendo-ized, I still opined that it was a superbly choreographed number, probably the best I've seen this past decade (again, I'm no expert, and I don't make my living watching music videos, actually, I shy away from them more often than I'll watch them, but still...).

You know, I enjoy Lady Gaga to an extent. Vapid pop music has its place, and she's come out with some pretty enjoyable songs.
But... This new song/video is TERRIBLE. I didn't think her lyrics could get worse than "Where are my keys I lost my phone" but the lyrics to Telephone are much worse. Whatever might be enjoyable about the song is then further ruined by the video which is bizarre in a bad way, has nothing to do with the song, and worst of all has terrible pacing. Anyway, it's disappointing, because I've been entertained by her until now. |

WTF man??
Lady Gaga isn't ... OK, some of her music is bad. But vapid is NOT the word for it. P.S. I haven't watched the vid for the "Telephone" song, but I understand with the lyrics. They're bad ... and yet I sing it in my head right now ... **sigh** |

Would shallow be a more acceptable adjective to you? Keep in mind, I don't mean this as an insult, I don't expect pop music to be overly thoughtful. That said, I do expect it to be better than "Telephone." It could be worse though, she could be Ke$ha.

Haven't seen the new video she has out, but I heard people on CNN bitching about it this morning. "Too controversial" or something like that. Who really gives a shit? Not I.
The only song I like from her is Just Dance. Catchy stuff. Her other songs aren't bad, I just don't like them too much.

My very alternative new age punk rock Olympia garage band bass player daughter really surprised me when she visited recently and said she loves Lady Gaga...I would have guessed quite the opposite but now I'm relistening to Gaga's tunes and trying to figure out why. Otherwise, I'm please to announce that my nephew and Lady Gaga dated and were a cute couple for a while...they went to music school at NYU together.

Lady Gaga's "Telephone", by Stanley Chow author's comments (in Stan's own words): If they asked me to design the sleeve, this is what I would have done…. which is probably why they didn’t ask me!

I've said it once, and I'll say it again: I'm a Gagan.
I'm gaga for Gaga. I want her to hold me like they do in Texas, please. * * * * * That, and I love the "Telephone" artwork posted here.

That's just a manufactured marketing & publicity ploy for teens and preteens. I am a true fan. I am her only true fan. I am the first and last of my kind. I am a Gagan.

I like that she's very "Warholesue", but after about 10 minutes I'm less impressed and looking elsewhere for better music and stage presence.
In truth, I feel her 15 minutes of fame are close to the end.

So it turns out Telephone was originally written (by Lady Gaga) for Britney Spears. She recorded a demo version, but it was rejected by her label.

Yeah, I like Gaga's version better. I had to listen to it after listening to Britney to clean my ears out. Gaga is a much stronger vocalist than Britney, in my opinion.
