Seeking Spanish classical music recommendations...
While listening to a "Classical Greats" type CD earlier, a song called "Danzas Espanolas - Andaluza" started playing and I found the sound to be both refreshing and pleasant to listen to. Generally I am not overly fond of classical music in Greatest Hits form, as it's a very incomplete form of listening and far from experiencing a symphony or concerto in its entirety. With that said, it did expose me to Enrique Granados, and that ultimately led me to my post here.
I gather he is a Spanish composer, as his music has a very Spanish sound, and I'd appreciate any and all recommendations you might have in regards to other Spanish composers that compose in a similarly classical style. I'm already familiar with Rodrigo y Gabriela, and while they're quite good, I'm looking for music that's a little slower paced, more relaxing, and perhaps not as technically difficult. I find that I have to be in the proper mindset to enjoy Rodrigo y Gabriela. Technically, they're fantastic, but I consider some of their songs to be so technically impressive and fast that they can be stressful, or at least not relaxing. Thus, when I heard Enrique Granados' piece, it was like a breath of fresh air, and I'd appreciate being exposed to similarly sounding composers/performers if you know of any. I've provided a YouTube video of a guitarist playing Enrique Costanzo's "Andaluza" below: |
