Songs You May Not Have Heard Before

Disclaimer: The thread title assumes an average person who does not specifically search out new artists. Whenever I put on any of the following songs, the people appear never to have heard them before, so the title may not apply to all.

Feel free to comment and/or add your own songs that did not have much exposure in the States but are popular across the ocean. I'll try to cover a variety of genres.

Hess is More - Yes Boss

Cinema Bizarre - Love Songs (The Kill Me)

Plazma - You'll Never Meet an Angel

Benefit - Sex Sells

David Usher feat. Kim Bingham - Black Black Heart

Martin Kesici - Angel of Berlin

Dante Thomas - Miss California

Marquess - Vayamos Compañeros

Arash - Pure Love

Seryoga - Cherny Bumer

My favorite song, especially while high, but nobody I've ever spoken to has ever heard of them or this song!

I have some friends who are heavy metal and know pretty much every metal band ever in existence and knows every song of every well-known metal band (which Sepultura and Cannibal Corpse are).. and yet have NEVER heard of this song! Craziness.

Manu Chao are known ALLL over the world.. very popular band. Yet only my sister (who lived in France for a month or two) and I know about them here, it seems.

Very cool song, yet none of my friends have heard of them before.

I have a big hate on for David Usher.

Why the hate, thespian?

And ametc, thanks for sharing. :)

Cool, I found out about a few new bands thanks to this thread :)

I don't think any of these are particularly well-known. At least, I don't think people I know have really heard what follows, but I don't often listen to commercial radio so it's possible a couple of these might be big right now and I have no idea :p

Pretty much everyone knows David Bowie... but most people I know aren't really familiar with his later work, such as the album Heathen. That's a shame, because the following song, "Sunday," is one of my favorite Bowie songs.

This next band doesn't even have an album yet, so you can't be blamed for never having heard this song ;)

CHEW LiPS - Salt Air

While a decent chunk of people have probably heard Street Sweeper Social Club by now, a ton of people probably still haven't, so check out their song "Fight! Smash! Win!"

Filthy Dukes - This Rhythm

Dragonette - I Get Around (Click through to watch in HD)

Fan Death - Veronica's Veil (Click through to watch in HD)

When Hera Hjartardóttir won 'best female singer' at the Icelandic Music Awards, it was the first time in 10 years anyone other than Björk or Emilíana Torrini won the category. Here is the video for her song, "Feels so good."

Marina and the Diamonds is another group that has yet to release an album, but I enjoy this song, "Mowgli's Road," quite a bit.

There is a long history of actors turning to music and totally sucking. Well Majandra Delfino was a musician first, who then ended up acting on the TV show Roswell, but returned to music after the show ended. I'm glad she did, because she's actually pretty good...

Listen to Majandra's "The Places You'll Go" on Last.FM

Majandra - What Sad Day

I wouldn't be surprised if this next one is actually pretty popular right now. I recently heard about the band Phoenix on NPR's Sound Opinions, but haven't heard anything about them elsewhere. So, here's their song "1901"

Polly Scattergood - Please Don't Touch

does anyone else listen to these guys?

Mogwai?

Fans of Top Gear probably know Auto Rock, which seems to be in every third episode:

There's also Travel Is Dangerous, which comes with a super trippy video:

And We're No Here, which to my knowledge doesn't have a video so here's some people cycling:

These are all off of Mr. Beast. If I had to recommend one Mogwai album for everyone to buy, it'd be Mr. Beast. But Come On Die Young and Happy Songs For Happy People are also good. I haven't heard their new one yet, but plan on rectifying that as soon as is feasible.
